In a scenario of continuous production growth, the Brazilian Foreign Trade Association (AEB) estimates that oil exports in 2024 could reach an impressive mark of US$ 43.575 billion, surpassing the US$ 42.553 billion recorded in 2022, which was the best performance to date.
José Augusto de Castro, executive president of AEB, highlights the steady growth in oil exports, noting an annual increase in the quantity exported. Projections indicate that the export of the product could reach 83 million tons in 2024, exceeding the 81 million tons recorded the previous year.

Although the projections are optimistic, it is important to consider that the international scenario may influence the results. Perspectives for Brazilian Oil Production
Currently, Brazil produces about 3.5 million barrels daily, with projections to reach 5 million barrels per day by the end of the decade. The country is on track to become one of the world’s leading oil producers, moving from ninth place in 2022 to a possible spotlight among the top five or six largest producers.
Expansion of Production Capacity
The year 2023 marked a significant advancement in Brazil’s production capacity, with four platforms coming into operation. In 2024, the activation of one more platform is expected, totaling a capacity of 660 thousand barrels per day. With a projected increase in production, driven by strong growth from the previous year, an excess is anticipated that will be allocated to exports, contributing to the country’s trade balance.
