International Certification Opens Doors for Sustainable Maritime Biofuel Sales in Brazil.
Bunker One Brazil, a leader in the commercialization of maritime fuels, recently achieved the international ISCC (International Sustainability & Carbon Certification). This crucial advancement ensures the sustainability of the products offered by the company. The certification was obtained in two categories: ISCC EU, which confirms compliance with specific criteria set by the European Union for biomass-derived products, and ISCC Plus, which has a global scope. These certifications demonstrate that Bunker One meets international sustainability standards throughout its supply chain for biofuels, which is a prerequisite for Brazilian biodiesel to be adopted in shipping.
Commitment to Sustainability
“Bunker One Brazil recognizes biofuels as the most suitable alternative for decarbonizing the industry in the short term. In this sense, the concern for the sustainability of the product to be marketed is natural. The ISCC certification is a demonstration that our entire supply chain complies with international standards, providing security for the market,” says Filippe Fernandez, commercial director of Bunker One Brazil.

Future of Biofuel Commercialization
According to the executive, the next step is to ensure access to the certified product without interruptions. “We aim to have a permanent operation for the commercialization of biofuels later this year. Establishing partnerships is essential for the sector to trust our ability to provide ISCC-compliant bio-bunker on a recurring basis. We seek to be leaders in the energy transition of the maritime sector also in Brazil,” concludes Fernandez.
Bunker One, the largest global player in the maritime fuel segment and part of the Danish group Bunker Holding, already has several initiatives aimed at decarbonization. The company operates tankers capable of transporting methanol and bunker, in addition to providing bio-bunker in over 80 ports worldwide.
