Truck Drivers Request Change in the MP Regarding Direct Hiring of Services
The MP 1051/21, which has already been approved in the House of Representatives and is now in the Senate, has caused concern among truck drivers across Brazil. The reason is that they fear their rights will be subjected to cargo contractors if the MP is approved as it stands.
As reported by Canal Rural, truck drivers are seeking less bureaucracy to eliminate intermediaries when hiring services.
Last Monday, the 30th, in the House of Representatives’ Transportation and Transport Commission, Diumar Bueno, president of the National Confederation of Independent Transporters, highlighted that in hiring independent contractors, intermediation consumes around 40% of the freight value. Diumar also made it clear that the category demands no amnesty for companies that violated the minimum freight rate after the 2018 strike.

More Practicality for Truck Drivers
Gabriel Valderrama, who is part of the Ministry of Infrastructure, highlighted that with the creation of the Electronic Transport Document, which is already in the MP, most of the necessary documents have been unified. In this way, the lives of truck drivers will be made easier.
He also guaranteed that truck drivers will not be held hostage by freight forwarders, as the freight contract is different from the rights contract: “The rights manager can precisely handle the other part, which is the issuance of invoices, tax collection. In short, all this more bureaucratic and tedious part. And I emphasize that it is independent, it is separate from the freight hiring,” he emphasized.
Road transport represents more than 60% of the total of this type of transport in Brazil. Luiz Henrique Bladez, director of the National Association of Cargo Transport Users, emphasized that there is significant interest in the sector in the direct hiring of truck drivers as an alternative to reduce freight prices.
