The Chinese automaker Build Your Dreams (BYD), a global leader in electric vehicle production, recently announced the opening of a new industrial complex in Bahia. This venture promises to generate 5,000 new job vacancies in the coming years, and since the announcement of its arrival, there has been a surge of interest from professionals in the automotive sector. In just 24 hours, the company received over 20,000 resumes in its talent pool.
BYD Plans Robust Investments and Diversified Opportunities
BYD plans to invest R$ 3 billion for the installation of three new factories in the city of Camaçari, in the Metropolitan Region of Salvador. Production is scheduled to begin in the second half of 2024. The three units have distinct purposes, each contributing to a diverse aspect of the electric and hybrid vehicle sector.
The first unit will be dedicated to the manufacturing of electric trucks and chassis for buses, reinforcing BYD’s position at the forefront of zero-emission cargo and passenger transport technology. The second factory will focus on the production of hybrid and electric cars, the core of BYD’s business. The third and final unit will be dedicated to processing inputs for electric batteries, such as lithium and iron phosphate, crucial for the infrastructure of electric mobility.
