The Gold Star Drillship Is One of Three Semisubmersible Drilling Units; The New Contract With Petrobras Will Take Effect in January 2020.

Constellation has just announced the reactivation of the Gold Star drillship, which will serve contracts with Petrobras scheduled to begin next year. Last month, the company announced the signing of a contract involving Omni Táxi Aéreo aimed at servicing its drillship Amaralina Star.

The Gold Star drillship is the first in a line of three semisubmersible drillships that will begin their contracts with Petrobras.

In July of this year, Petrobras granted the renewal of the contract for 3 offshore drillships from Constellation, the units are the Alpha Star, Gold Star, and Lone Star drillships, and the new contract with Petrobras will be valid starting January 2020.

The Alpha Star and the Gold Star are semisubmersible drilling platforms in ultra-deep waters, with the capacity to drill at depths of up to 9,000 feet. The Lone Star, on the other hand, has the capacity to drill at depths of up to 7,900 feet.

According to the company, last Sunday, October 5th, was a very important day, marking a significant step in the reactivation of the drillship.

Constellation, a company providing drilling services for land and offshore wells and platform operations, also informed that the new contract with the Brazilian oil company will take effect in January 2020.

Currently, the Gold Star is positioned in Area 1, in Guanabara Bay, for the installation of its thrusters, the information was announced by the official company news vehicle.

“We congratulate all our stars who have been driving this preparation with great determination and commitment,” declared Constellation.

Constellation has a fleet consisting of eight offshore drilling rigs, with two semisubmersibles anchored for operations in water depths of up to 1,100 meters, three dynamically positioned for operations in water depths of up to 2,700 meters, and three drillships for operations in water depths of up to 3,000 meters.
