The Works of the Arpoador, Guarapari, Urca, and Frade Drilling Rigs Are Highly Anticipated by the Cities of Angra dos Reis (RJ) and Aracruz (ES)
After the announcement of job openings at the Brasfels shipyard, another good news for workers in the Brazilian shipbuilding industry was the significant step taken by the winner of the auction for the drilling rigs from Sete Brasil, which are docked at the finishing dock of the Brasfels shipyard in Angra dos Reis (RJ) and at the Jurong in Aracruz (ES).
The Magni Partners group and MIC Capital Partners (a Mubadala group company) have formed a special purpose company (SPC) aimed at owning and managing the drillships Arpoador, Guarapari (under construction at the Jurong shipyard in Aracruz (ES)), and the semi-submersibles Urca and Frade, currently being built at Brasfels.
The important step was the approval by the Administrative Council for Economic Defense (Cade) of the transaction to purchase the SPC by the aforementioned conglomerates, which will now become the owner and operator of the rigs. The equipment will be operated by ETESCO, a Brazilian company providing infrastructure, services, and oil and gas services.

The resumption of work on the rigs is highly anticipated by the traditional shipbuilding cities of Angra dos Reis (RJ) and Aracruz (ES), due to the high unemployment rate caused by the halt of operations as a result of the investigations from the Lava Jato operation in 2014/2015.
Remembering
It is worth noting that Magni Partners was the winner of the Sete Brasil drilling rigs auction, held in April 2019, with a bid of US$ 296 million, surpassing competitors that included the Brasfels shipyard itself.
Sete Brasil was established in 2010 and entered into charter contracts with Petrobras for the construction of 28 rigs capable of operating in the pre-salt at a water depth of 3,000 meters.
