The highest authorities of the state of Rio de Janeiro, Governor Wilson Witzel and Vice Governor Cláudio Castro received yesterday (05/16) at the Guanabara Palace, State Deputy Chico Machado (PSD) and the president of the Macaé Port Terminal (TEPOR), Dr. Fabiano Crespo.
The purpose of the visit was to gain the governor’s support regarding the revocation of the injunction that suspends the environmental license for the start of construction of TEPOR.
On Wednesday (05/15), the deputy had already defended before the parliamentarians of Alerj the importance of constructing the Macaé Port Terminal.

He emphasized that the project is a long-held dream of everyone and how economically important it is for the north and northwest regions of the state as it is a significant generator of jobs and income.
The Injunction
It is worth noting that in December of last year, a São Paulo NGO called Ama Brasil won in court an injunction that suspended the licensing process of the port with Ibama and Inea.
The Deputy’s intention is to gain political support to prevent this action from hindering the generation of 10,000 jobs and the arrival of future investments for the city of Macaé and the region.
Governor Wilson Witzel had already declared support for the project , placing the project as a priority for his government, stating: “This is an investment of about 5 billion dollars, generating 10,000 jobs during the construction phase and a significant and important movement of new companies and investments for Macaé and the region. They are trying to hinder this investment and the development of the State of Rio, but we will not let that happen.
TEPOR will be beneficial for jobs in the city and region, beneficial for state revenues, and surely, it will be a key piece for the recovery of Rio de Janeiro in the national economy.”
The Tepor of Macaé, in addition to providing logistical support for the Oil and Gas industry, will serve as a fuel storage terminal and as a Natural Gas Processing plant, with a processing capacity of 60 million m³/day.
