On Tuesday, 24, Governor Brandão was at the German Embassy in the Federal District along with the Secretary of State for Economic Development and Strategic Programs, José Reinaldo Tavares.
They came together to discuss the creation of a task force for the implementation of private entrepreneurship in Maranhão, in the port, railway, and energy sectors.
The meeting included the implementation of Brazil’s Logistics Infrastructure Program and involved the (TPA) Port Terminal of Alcântara, as well as the Maranhão Railway and the Green Energy Hub.
However, it is important to remember that besides the Secretary and the governor, the German ambassador Heiko Thoms was also present at the meeting. The meeting also included the presence of Waldez Góes, Minister of Integration and Regional Development of the federal government, among others.

In this way, Carlos Brandão stated: ” This may be one of the most important projects in Brazil. Now, with these global partners, this project is solidifying with the extension of a railway that goes from Açailândia to Alcântara, where a large port will be built. We will also have a partnership with a major German logistics company that operates highways, ports being the anchor of this project”.
Additionally, the governor also emphasized that despite the strong positive impact on the improvement of national infrastructure and logistics, this new entrepreneurship could create around 100,000 new jobs. Brandão also stressed: ” it will undoubtedly be the deepest port in Brazil with 25 meters of depth.
Therefore, an opportunity for large business in Maranhão. I, who advocate for investments, job creation, and income, saw here in the presentation that there are more than 100,000 jobs after completion”.
The governor also reiterated his commitment to educational projects and the training of Maranhão’s workforce, especially the youth, so that the state can explore new job opportunities.
With that, the governor also advocated saying: ” It’s one more reason for us to be concerned about the professional training of our youth. This is a state project; the Brandão government is determined to start these major works, these major investments so that future governments can complete them; there is no journey without the first step”.
He also highlighted that the government’s efforts in making the project viable are part of the message that reinforces the world and Maranhão. Initially, it’s a friendly and secure legal and political environment.
