List Gathers Unjust Models With V6 Engines, All-Wheel Drive, and Luxury Levels Superior to New Popular Models That Cost Twice as Much.

The Brazilian automotive market is experiencing a peculiar moment where new vehicles, often with 1.0 engines and simple plastic finishes, reach exorbitant prices. Contrarily, a detailed analysis of the used market reveals true opportunities: Underappreciated SUVs that offer power, space, and technologies that “humiliate” the current zero-kilometer options.

According to a survey by the specialized channel Carros.com, these models are considered “unjust” by the general public. Prejudice or lack of knowledge causes cars with V6 engines, all-wheel drive, and premium equipment lists to be traded for amounts equivalent to or even lower than entry-level compact hatchbacks. Below, we detail seven options that prove it is possible to get much more car for less money.

Toyota RAV4 2.4 (2014)

It is curious to think that a Toyota could be undervalued, but the RAV4 of this generation, specifically the top-of-the-line 2.4 version from 2014, has never received the recognition it deserves in Brazil. It offers a robust aspirated engine with 179 horsepower and a five-speed automatic transmission. It’s not a sporty setup, but it provides mechanical reliability that few modern rivals possess, in addition to on-demand all-wheel drive.

The comfort level is superior to any current compact SUV. It features a sunroof, dual-zone digital air conditioning, and a generous trunk of 580 liters. It is currently found in the range of R$ 90 thousand to R$ 100 thousand, delivering the legendary robustness of the Japanese brand for the price of inferior category 1.0 turbo models.

Ford Edge Limited (2015)

The second-generation Ford Edge is a clear example of a premium vehicle that has suffered significant depreciation. It offers a typical luxury American car ride quality, equipped with a powerful 3.5 V6 engine with 289 horsepower and all-wheel drive. Performance is strong, with 0 to 100 km/h in 8.4 seconds, something remarkable for its size.

The big differentiator is the onboard technology, which already included in 2015 features that are only now becoming popular, such as adaptive cruise control, double panoramic sunroof, and ventilated and heated seats. Costing between R$ 90 thousand and R$ 110 thousand, it requires careful maintenance but rewards you with a level of equipment that is hard to find even in new cars priced at R$ 250 thousand.

Honda CR-V 1.5 Turbo (2018)

Although it is the most expensive model on this list, the 2018 Honda CR-V is cited as an extremely rational purchase when compared to current prices of zero-kilometer cars. Equipped with a modern 1.5 turbo engine with 190 horsepower and a CVT transmission, it combines performance with efficiency, achieving averages of up to 13 km/l on the highway.

Its price ranges between R$ 145 thousand and R$ 160 thousand, which may seem high, but it is lower than top-of-the-line versions of current compact SUVs that deliver much less space and refinement. The CR-V offers exquisite finishing, high-level acoustic insulation, and a complete technological package with semi-autonomous driving, making it a car designed to last for decades.

Hyundai Santa Fé V6 (2011-2012)

For those seeking raw performance at an accessible price, the Santa Fé with a 3.5 V6 engine with 285 horsepower is unbeatable. This SUV accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in an impressive 6.8 seconds, surpassing the vast majority of family vehicles sold today. In addition to its power, it offers all-wheel drive and the versatility of seven seats.

Although the interior design is somewhat dated by the age of the project, the finishing is of high quality, with plenty of leather and soft-touch materials. The most surprising aspect is its market price: between R$ 60 thousand and R$ 70 thousand. It is the price of a basic subcompact zero-kilometer car for a large, powerful, and complete SUV for the whole family.

Kia Sorento V6 (2016)

Often overlooked for being from a Korean brand less traditional than Hyundai, the 2016 Kia Sorento is one of the underappreciated SUVs on this list. It features a 3.3 V6 engine with 270 horsepower and offers a design that still remains current and imposing on Brazilian streets.

Its interior is refined, with extensive use of premium materials and a list of equipment that includes a panoramic sunroof and real seven seats. Sold between R$ 95 thousand and R$ 110 thousand, it represents exceptional value for those needing space and not wanting to compromise on a car with presence and a strong engine.

Dodge Journey R/T (2011 and Up)

The Dodge Journey is a champion of interior space and versatility, especially after the 2011 update, when it received the praised 3.6 V6 Pentastar engine with 280 horsepower and a reliable six-speed automatic transmission, solving the chronic problems of older versions.

It is almost a minivan disguised as an SUV, offering great comfort for seven occupants, a rear entertainment system, and premium Alpine sound. With prices ranging from R$ 60 thousand to R$ 70 thousand, it delivers much more car than any new option at that price, although it requires extra attention to preventive maintenance due to the cost of imported parts.

Hyundai Veracruz 3.8 V6 (2009)

The oldest and cheapest option on the list is also one of the most honest. The Hyundai Veracruz may have a more sober appearance, “uncle-like”, but it hides a robust mechanical set with its 3.8 V6 engine with 260 horsepower. It was the top model of the brand in its time, and that shows in its construction quality.

Offering luxuries such as electric power steering, premium JBL sound, and a gigantic trunk that exceeds 1,200 liters with folded seats, it currently costs between R$ 50 thousand and R$ 60 thousand. It is an option for plenty of space and comfort at the price of a used subcompact.

Would you dare to take on the maintenance of one of these used giants in exchange for the luxury and power they offer, or do you prefer the guarantee of a basic zero-kilometer? Leave your opinion in the comments.
