Agreement Between Petrobras and CNOOC Is Closed to Adhere to the Contracts That Allow the Drainage of Natural Gas from Búzios
Petrobras signed the contract for the Integrated Natural Gas Processing System (SIP) with CNOOC (China National Offshore Oil Corporation) Brazil and, in synergy with partners, completed the process of CNOOC’s adherence to the existing contracts of the Integrated Natural Gas Drainage System (SIE-BS) of the Santos Basin.
After the adherence to these contracts, CNOOC will be able to drain the natural gas from the Búzios field, located in the pre-salt of the Santos Basin, through any of the export routes of the SIE-BS and process it at Petrobras-owned plants. Thus, CNOOC will be able to directly supply the natural gas market starting January 1, 2023.
A Step Forward in Creating an Open and Sustainable Natural Gas Market
As announced by Offshore Energy, Petrobras stated that closing the agreement with CNOOC was another step towards creating an open, competitive, and sustainable natural gas market, and is part of the commitments made to the Administrative Council for Economic Defense (CADE) in July 2019.

The SIE-BS is composed of Routes 1, 2, and 3 for draining the pre-salt Cluster of the Santos Basin. Meanwhile, the SIP includes the processing plants connected to the SIE-BS, owned by Petrobras, located in Caraguatatuba, São Paulo, Cabiúnas, and Itaboraí, under construction, both in Rio de Janeiro.
Petrobras Received Nearly US$ 2 Billion from CNOOC
According to Offshore Energy, CNOOC Petroleum Brazil recently invested nearly 2 billion dollars in Petrobras for the acquisition of an additional stake in the field. Furthermore, Petrobras has been closing agreements for activities in the Búzios field. Thus, the company signed a contract with Sembcorp Marine Rigs & Floaters of Singapore to build the FPSO P-82 for operations in the field, one week after signing the contract with Keppel Shipyard for the construction of the FPSO P-83.
