Have You Ever Imagined Having a Wind Turbine in Your Backpack to Recharge Smartphones and Other Electronics? This is the Proposal from the Canadian Company, Shine, Which Developed a Small Device That Weighs Less Than 2 Kg and Can Produce 40 Watts of Power
The Canadian company, Shine, created a portable wind turbine that fits in a backpack and weighs about 1.3 kg. The wind turbine is named Shine Turbine and aims to serve travelers, campers, or even nomads traveling around the world. The invention has a low power output of 40 watts and is designed to charge electronic devices like phones, GPS units, laptops, lanterns, and more.

A Foldable Wind Turbine
According to the Canadian company, in just one hour, the backpack-sized turbine can capture enough energy to charge three smartphones in various types of weather conditions.
According to the company, mastering the elements is not an easy task, but Shine has made it possible. The robust turbine excels in generating wind energy in remote locations.

Canadian engineers want to compress air in underground caverns and build plants of up to 500 MW that function as giant lungs to store renewable energy for hours and stabilize entire electrical grids.
The Turbine That Fits in a Backpack
The portable wind energy invention, designed to fit in a backpack, has fully foldable blades. Another important thing is that when folded, the Shine measures about 35 cm in length, and its blade has a diameter of about 60 cm.
Currently, the first production batch has already sold out, and there is no estimate of when the Canadian company’s product will arrive in Brazil. The wind turbine that fits in a backpack comes in a box with all the assembly parts, reflective support cables, and pins so users can quickly set up the Shine Turbine.
Crowdfunding
See below some technical information about the Canadian company’s wind turbine:
- Folded Length: 35 cm
- Blade Diameter: 60 cm
- Folded Width: 10 cm
- Assembled Height: 91.4 cm
- Total Weight: 1.3 kg
- Internal Battery: 5 V, 12,000 mAh
- Power Rating: 40 Watts
- Connector: Regulated 5 V DC, 2 A
- Cable: USB-A Male
- LED Indicator: Battery and Temperature
The wind energy product that fits in a backpack was made possible through a crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter and has several pending certifications such as CSA, FCC, IC RoHS, IEC, UL, Un3481.
Although the Shine Turbine has an IP56 rating and can recharge electronics even in the rain, it is not recommended to use the device in the snow or at temperatures below 0º C, as at those temperatures, the internal batteries do not function correctly and may damage the equipment.
