Equinor Partners With Azevedo & Travassos for Raia Project in Campos Basin, Investing R$ 500 Million in a Gas Pipeline and Facilities, Expected by 2028.
Equinor, in partnership with Azevedo & Travassos Infrastructure, has taken a significant step towards the development of the Raia Project (BM-C-33) in the pre-salt of the Campos Basin by signing a letter of intent for the construction of the onshore segment of the gas pipeline and the natural gas receiving facilities. This project, which marks a milestone in the sector, has an estimated contract value of R$ 500 million, following the EPCIC (Engineering, Procurement of Equipment and Materials, Construction, Installation, and Commissioning) model, with an execution period of approximately 46 months.
Equinor and Azevedo & Travassos Million-Dollar Partnership in the Oil and Gas Sector
Located in Macaé, in Rio de Janeiro, the Raia Project works will involve a consortium formed by Equinor (35%), Repsol Sinopec Brasil (35%), and Petrobras (30%).
The companies plan to invest around US$ 9 billion in the development of the Raia Manta and Raia Pintada fields.

Petrobras completes 1,300 hours of work and 15 km of subsea lines to connect the Búzios 90 well to the P-79 — the platform is ready to produce 180,000 barrels per day and is just awaiting ANP approval.
Equinor expects to start production in these fields in 2028, providing a significant increase of 14 million cubic meters per day in the volume of gas available in the Brazilian market.
Offshore Gas Pipeline and Advanced Technologies for the Development of the Campos Basin
The gas will be transported via a 200 km offshore pipeline, connecting the platform to the city of Cabiúnas in Macaé.
The commercialization of the gas will follow this route, while the liquids will be transported by tankers.
With estimated recoverable volumes of over 1 billion barrels of oil equivalent, the Raia Manta and Raia Pintada areas represent a substantial reserve of natural gas and condensate.
To enable the project, Modec will provide the FPSO, while TechnipFMC will be responsible for the subsea equipment.
This will be the first project in Brazil to handle offshore gas, connecting to the national grid without the need for additional processing onshore.
The partnership between Equinor and Azevedo & Travassos promises to significantly contribute to the Brazilian energy sector, strengthening the country’s presence in the global natural gas market.
