About the Operation
Petrobras acts as a co-author with the Federal Public Prosecutor and the Union in 21 ongoing administrative impropriety actions, in addition to being an assistant in 76 criminal actions related to unlawful acts investigated by Operation Lava Jato.
Launched in 2014, Operation Lava Jato exposed a massive corruption scheme involving public companies like Petrobras, implicating dozens of high-profile political and economic figures, leading to the imprisonment of many, including former Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, who is currently on parole.
However, the main core (Lava Jato in Paraná) ceased to exist at the beginning of the month, now integrating into another crime-fighting group (Gaeco).
