Maranhão Expands Porto do Itaqui for Fuel Distribution
In April, Ultrapar announced that construction will be undertaken at Porto do Itaqui. This involves a new terminal with a static capacity of at least 79,000 m³ in the area leased for fuel distribution at Porto do Itaqui, in Maranhão’s capital, São Luís. The port operations will commence 5 years from the contract date.
For this to happen, the company’s investment must be at least R$ 310 million. According to Ultracargo, a subsidiary of Ultrapar, the investment for the terminal’s construction is directly linked to the company’s profitability and expansion strategy.
The company states that Porto do Itaqui has a strategic location for fuel distribution in Brazil, where Ultracargo already manages the operations of a terminal of over 100 m³. Thus, the terminal to be built in Maranhão will be interconnected with the current one, providing clients with greater flexibility in fuel transportation.
