Crackdown Increases and the Government of the United States Arrested 100 Illegal Immigrants Working in Construction.
A joint operation between federal and state authorities resulted in the arrest of 100 illegal immigrants working in construction in Tallahassee, the capital of Florida. The action, which took place in the last week of May, is part of a set of stricter immigration enforcement measures supported by the U.S. government.
Immigrants from Various Countries Worked in the Construction Sector
According to information released by the EFE agency, the detained workers are from Latin American countries, including Mexico, Colombia, Guatemala, Nicaragua, El Salvador, and Honduras.
They were working at a large construction site in one of the fastest-growing urban areas in the state of Florida.

This operation in Tallahassee is considered one of the largest recent offensives against illegal immigrants in the construction sector, which traditionally employs a large number of foreign workers, many of whom are in irregular situations.
Second Large-Scale Operation in Less Than Two Weeks
The action is part of a series of intensified inspections in recent weeks.
Just a few days prior, a similar operation had been carried out in The Villages, also in Florida, resulting in dozens of arrests.
Both initiatives aim to reinforce the enforcement of federal immigration policies.
States like Florida, Louisiana, and New York have concentrated their enforcement efforts at this time, with coordinated participation from local agents and federal forces.
Alignment with Federal Government Guidelines
After the operation in Tallahassee, Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier publicly praised the performance of the involved authorities and reiterated the state’s commitment to national immigration policies.
“In Florida, we are leading the effort to help the Trump Administration implement federal immigration law,” Uthmeier stated.
The statement reinforces the state government’s support for presidential orders that guide the increased rigor in enforcement against the presence of illegal immigrants in the country.
The choice of construction as a frequent target of operations is directly related to the massive presence of immigrants in this sector, considered essential but at the same time highly vulnerable to irregular hiring practices.
International media indicates that these operations signal a new phase in U.S. immigration policy, with practical actions in states and sectors where there is a higher incidence of undocumented workers.
