More than 50 million Brazilians who have already received the National Identity Card can use the document to reach the Gold level on Gov.br, the highest security category of the federal platform. The procedure is carried out via mobile, combining the reading of the card’s QR Code with facial recognition, enhancing protection in accessing more than 4,200 digital services.
The feature transforms the CIN into a tool that goes beyond physical identification. After confirming identity through the app, the citizen starts using an account with a higher level of authentication and can also store a digital version of the document on their phone.
The measure is part of a broader proposal for integrating public services. The expectation is that the National Identity Card will help reduce fraud, simplify bureaucratic steps, and allow public agencies to offer more connected services in health, education, and work areas.

How to use the new ID to get the Gold account on Gov.br?
The account level increase can be requested after the citizen receives the physical version of the CIN. The entire process takes place within the Gov.br app and takes only a few minutes.
After entering the platform, the user should look for the option intended for elevating the account level. The app will request the reading of the QR Code printed on the National Identity Card.
Once this step is completed, facial recognition will be required. The verification serves to confirm that the person using the app matches the data linked to the document.
To reduce the possibility of errors during the analysis, the guidance is to perform the procedure in a well-lit environment. The space behind the user should be free of objects that could impair the image.
Glasses, hats, and other accessories that hide parts of the face should also be removed before facial recognition.
When the validation is completed, the Gov.br account may reach the Gold level, enhancing the security of the citizen’s digital identification.
Gold Account strengthens access to digital services
The Gold account represents the highest category of authentication available on Gov.br. With it, the user can verify their digital identity with a higher degree of security when using the services offered by the platform.
Obtaining this level through the National Identity Card aims to simplify the process, as the confirmation resources are present in the document itself.
Instead of functioning solely as a replacement for the old identity cards, the NIC now plays a direct role in the relationship between the citizen and the government’s digital systems.

National Identity Card can be available directly on the mobile phone
In addition to allowing access to the Gold level, the National Identity Card can be included in the Gov.br document wallet.
To add the digital version, the citizen needs to access the app and enter the “Document Wallet” area. Then, they must tap the addition symbol and select the option corresponding to the identity card.
The document will be stored in the app, in a model similar to the one already used for the digital National Driver’s License.
The possibility of keeping the NIC on the mobile phone makes it easier to consult the document and concentrates different personal records in a single digital environment.

The expansion of the National Identity Card is part of a project to transform Brazilian public services.
