The Steel Cutting Ceremony for the Thor Offshore High Voltage Station Project Took Place at the HSM Offshore Energy Shipyard in Schiedam, Netherlands.
The construction of the Thor Offshore High Voltage Station (OHVS) project for RWE began at the HSM Offshore Energy shipyard, located in Schiedam, Netherlands. Both the offshore substation and the jacket are being developed at this site. In 2022, HSM Offshore Energy, in partnership with Iv-Offshore & Energy and GE, was contracted to carry out the engineering, procurement, construction, installation, and commissioning of the high-voltage offshore substation and its foundation. The choice of HSM Offshore Energy was based on its experience and technical knowledge, ensuring the project’s efficiency for RWE’s Thor offshore wind farm in Denmark.
HSM Offshore, along with its main subcontractors Iv-Offshore & Energy and GE, was selected to carry out the construction of the high-voltage offshore substation and its foundation. HSM Offshore’s experience and technical knowledge will ensure the project’s efficiency for RWE’s Thor offshore wind farm in Denmark. The substation will have a capacity exceeding 1 GW and a total weight of less than 3,000 metric tons, contributing to the reduction of structural steel usage and the energy required during manufacturing, with steel supply and manufacturing in Europe.
