Billion-dollar poultry chain venture promises to transform the economy of Capão Alto, in Santa Catarina, with job creation, production of millions of fertile eggs per year, and expansion of JBS and Seara’s presence in one of the smallest cities in the Serra Catarinense.
With only 2,625 inhabitants recorded in the 2022 Census, the municipality of Capão Alto, in the Serra Catarinense, was chosen to host the Granja 7 de Setembro, a poultry venture valued at R$ 75 million and aimed at producing fertile eggs for the Seara and JBS chain.
According to information released by the Capão Alto City Hall and regional media, the structure was designed with 24 barns, an operation planned for about 230,000 breeders and an estimated capacity to reach the mark of 48 million fertile eggs per year.

On the margins of SC-390, the venture is expected to occupy a strategically considered area to facilitate the flow of production and strengthen the logistical connection with hatcheries and broiler producers located in different Brazilian regions.

While Grupo Rossi Agronegócios appears as responsible for the investment, the production of the new unit will have a commercial partnership with Seara Alimentos Ltda. and JBS, according to records released by authorities and local media in the Serra Catarinense.
Mayor Sadiana de Arruda Melo Coelho Lopes stated that the installation was defined after months of negotiations and highlighted that the structure will be dedicated to supplying fertile eggs for national poultry farming.
“We finally made the decision, and the farm will be installed in Capão Alto with 24 barns, dedicated to the production of fertile eggs for supply to hatcheries and broiler producers from various regions of Brazil,” said the mayor.
Structure will have 24 barns and annual production of 48 million fertile eggs
Considered one of the largest agro-industrial projects ever announced for the Serra Catarinense, the Granja 7 de Setembro will have an operational scale above the traditional economic profile of Capão Alto, a municipality marked by low population density and a strong presence of rural activities.
According to the data presented by local authorities, each shed was planned to accommodate approximately 14,000 breeding hens, although the total operational capacity estimated for the unit was reported to be around 230,000 birds.

The projected annual production is 48 million fertile eggs, intended to supply hatcheries and the initial stage of broiler chicken farming, an essential area for the integrated poultry chain.
JBS investment expected to generate direct and indirect jobs
During the construction phase, the expectation is to generate approximately 100 direct jobs and at least 150 indirect jobs, boosting segments related to civil construction, transportation, food, specialized technical services, and supply of inputs for the work.
After operations begin, the farm is expected to maintain about 80 direct positions and another 130 indirect positions, covering sectors related to logistics, maintenance, poultry management, cargo transportation, and support services.
For Capão Alto, the arrival of the enterprise represents a significant expansion of the local economic base, especially because the volume of expected jobs is substantial when compared to the population size recorded by IBGE.
Santa Catarina expands presence in the national poultry chain
Nationally recognized for the strength of the meat and poultry agribusiness, Santa Catarina concentrates an important part of the poultry production chain, in which the new farm will operate in the supply stage of fertile eggs intended for broiler chicken farming.
Besides the expected economic impact for Capão Alto, the installation reinforces the advancement of large production chains in smaller municipalities of the Serra catarinense, where factors such as territorial availability, large rural areas, and road access influence the choice of new agribusiness investments.
The official launch of Granja 7 de Setembro was scheduled for May 21, 2026, at an event organized by the Capão Alto City Hall and the Rossi Agribusiness Group, according to regional dissemination about the project.
