The North Region Holds the Top Position in the Price Increase Ranking for Two Types of This Fuel

A survey by a fleet management company showed that the average price of common diesel sold in Brazil was R $6.870 in April. This amount represents an increase of 4.05% compared to the previous month. The type that saw the largest adjustment was S-10, with 3.75%, rising from R $6.740 to R $6.993. And prices are only expected to rise after Petrobras authorized a 9% increase for refineries, effective from Wednesday (10). The last adjustment in the price of diesel was on March 11, when it had already increased by 24.9%.

The data were compiled from the Ticket Log Price Index (IPTL). The study pointed out that there was a price increase in all regions of the country, ranging from 3.01% in the North to 5.23% in the South. In the latter region, the price of the liter of this fuel rose from R $6.152 to R $6.474. The highest increase was for the S-10 type, recorded in the Northeast, with 4.20%. There, the price rose from R $6.762 to R $7.046.

North Leads the Adjustment Ranking by State

The North region holds the top position in the price increase ranking for two types of this fuel. The common type experienced an increase of 3.01% from March to April, rising from R $7.088 to R $7.269. The S-10 type saw a 3.56% increase.

On the other end, the lowest price for a liter of diesel was found in the South, at R $6.474 for the common and R $6.536 for the S-10.

Paraíba is at the top of the ranking for this fuel’s price by state, with the largest adjustment for the common type at 6.56%, rising from R $6.407 to
R $6.827.

The highest average price in April was in Acre, at 5.48%, at R $7.559. The only state that recorded a decrease in diesel prices was Tocantins, with a 0.25% drop, from R $6.717 to R $6.700.

Amapá Had the Highest Adjustment in the Country

The state of Amapá had the highest adjustment in the price of a liter of diesel, with 10%. The S-10 type was sold at R $7.797 at local stations. In March, this price was R $7.088.

Rio Grande do Sul recorded the lowest averages in the country, even with a 5% increase for both the common type and the S-10. In this state, Brazilians paid R $6.423 and R $6.498, respectively, to fuel their vehicles.

“The price of diesel has not decreased since December of last year, a month in which the IPTL recorded a decline of 0.08% in the price of both types. When we compare with January of this year, the common type has already increased by 19.1% and the S-10 by 10%,” says Douglas Pina, General Director of Mainstream at Edenred Brazil’s Fleet and Mobility Division.

The IPTL is a fuel price index based on the fueling carried out at the 21,000 accredited Ticket Log stations. The company manages 1 million vehicles, averaging eight transactions per second.
