Construction Works for Spillway at Doutor da Vale Dam Will Provide Over 300 Jobs in Minas Gerais
The mining company Vale is expected to soon begin construction on a spillway channel, also known as a spillway, at a dam in Minas Gerais, with an anticipated completion in 2021. The works have already been reported to the State Secretary of Environment and Sustainable Development (Semad) and will require about 300 job vacancies, of which 200 have already been filled by local workers hired through Sine.

Execution Phases of Vale’s Works in Minas Gerais
The works on Vale’s spillway will be carried out gradually in peripheral areas of the dam, with the initial phase including vegetation suppression services, land cleaning, earthmoving, and channel excavation.
Immediately after the completion of the spillway, there will be the implementation of external reinforcements to the dam, environmental recovery, and reintegration of the area into the local environment, continuing the decharacterization of the Doutor Dam operated by the mining company Vale.
Monitoring
Vale will constantly monitor the indicators of water usage, air quality, and noise levels to ensure the effectiveness of control actions during the execution of the works, and ongoing actions to strengthen the dam’s safety in Minas Gerais are also being carried out.
Additionally, measures will be taken by the mining company Vale to prevent the spread of the new coronavirus among workers and residents in the Minas Gerais region, according to the recommendations of the World Health Organization (WHO) and other authorities.
