Official data shows consistent reduction in high-impact incidents, while municipality strengthens institutional integration and intelligent monitoring

The city of Maricá presented significant results in indicators monitored by the public authorities, recording some of the best numbers in its recent historical series.

Between January and May 2026, the municipality recorded only four incidents classified as violent lethality, the lowest rate since the beginning of the historical series, started in 2003.

The information was released by the official portal of the Maricá City Hall, with data from the Secretariat of Citizen Security and indicators monitored by the Public Security Institute (ISP).

Moreover, the municipality achieved 845 days without records of robbery followed by death and 550 consecutive days without occurrences of cargo theft, two indicators considered relevant within official monitoring.

Indicators show consistent reduction compared to previous years

The data also shows a significant drop compared to previous periods. Compared to the same period in 2025, the reduction in violent lethality exceeds 55%.

When considering the year 2018, the drop exceeds 89%, indicating a consistent change over the past few years.

Another relevant data point involves street robbery records. Between January and May 2026, 90 occurrences were recorded, the lowest number in the last 15 years.

Additionally, the municipality recorded 16 vehicle robbery occurrences in the same period. This number represents the second-lowest rate in more than two decades.

For comparison, 29 cases were recorded in 2025, while in 2017 the total reached 118 occurrences.

Strategy combines technology, integration, and operational training

According to the Secretariat of Citizen Security, the results are associated with the combination of planning, use of technology, and integration between institutions.

The Maricá City Hall signed technical cooperation agreements with bodies such as the Federal Police, the Federal Highway Police, and the State Military Police Secretariat.

Additionally, the municipality expanded the State Security Integration Program (Proeis), increasing operational presence in different regions.

Simultaneously, the municipal administration invests in the continuous training of agents, with training focused on technical and operational improvement.

Monitoring project and integrated center strengthen municipal management

Among the structural initiatives, the city is advancing in the construction of the City of Security, a complex aimed at integrating operational structures.

The project includes the new headquarters of the Municipal Guard, a training academy, and an Integrated Command and Control Center.

Furthermore, the municipality plans to expand the monitoring system with more than 7,000 cameras, according to information released by the municipal administration itself.

Data reflects progress in the management of monitored indicators

For the Secretary of Citizen Security, Colonel Júlio Veras, the results are a direct consequence of the model adopted by the management.

According to him, the strategy combines operational presence, technology, and institutional integration, allowing for greater efficiency in monitoring the indicators.

In this way, the municipality continues to expand its monitoring and response capacity within the guidelines established by official bodies.
