Free Professional Master’s for Teachers. The MEC Offers Courses in History, Literature, Mathematics, and Physics. Enhance Your Career!
The Ministry of Education (MEC) recently announced the opening of registrations for several Professional Master’s and Doctorates. These programs are part of the ProEB – Professional Master’s Programs for the Qualification of Practicing Teachers in the Public Basic Education Network, an initiative aimed at improving the quality of education in Brazilian schools. The ProEB offers postgraduate courses at higher education institutions across all regions of the country, with options in areas such as Mathematics, Physics, Literature, Arts, History, Biology, Chemistry, Philosophy, Sociology, Physical Education, Geography, and Inclusive Education.
In August 2024, the MEC opened four announcements for Professional Master’s, offering over 3,700 free spots for teachers from all over Brazil. These courses are designed to provide flexibility, allowing educators to balance their professional activities with their studies. The slots are distributed among public universities throughout the country, ensuring quality education that is accessible to teachers.
The online and free courses offered by the MEC are:

- MPNEF: Professional Master’s in Physics Teaching
- PROFMAT: Professional Master’s in Mathematics

PROFHISTORIA: Professional Master’s in History
The PROFHISTORIA is a Professional Master’s program aimed at History teachers, offered in over 30 universities across all regions of Brazil. With 605 available spots, this course is an excellent opportunity to enhance teachers’ skills. Registrations are open Organizer of the selection process until November 13, 2024. Professional Master’s in Literature – PROFLETRAS
The PROFLETRAS offers over 700 spots for Literature teachers who wish to enter the Master’s program in 2025. The course is conducted in 41 universities and federal institutes throughout Brazil. The spots are distributed across the Center-West (49 spots), Northeast (309 spots), North (75 spots), Southeast (252 spots), and South (57 spots). The registration fee is R$ 160 and runs from August 22 to September 22, 2024, with the selection process consisting of objective and discursive tests. Registrations – COPERVE UFRN. PROFMAT: 1,600 Spots for the Professional Master’s in Mathematics
The PROFMAT, one of the largest Master’s programs in Brazil, offers 1,600 spots for Mathematics teachers working in basic education. The course is offered by 81 higher education institutions across all regions of the country. Registrations through the Program’s website will be open until September 30, 2024, with a fee of R$ 82.00. The selection process will be conducted through the National Access Exam (ENA), with a unified test scheduled for March 2025.
MNPEF: Professional Master’s in Physics Teaching
The MNPEF offers 728 free spots for Physics teachers interested in enhancing their training. The course will be conducted in partnership with over 60 public universities distributed across Brazil. The spots are allocated across the five regions: 77 in the North, 171 in the Northeast, 50 in the Center-West, 137 in the Southeast, and 62 in the South. The registrations will be from August 25 to September 24, 2024, on the institution’s website, with a fee of R$ 70.00. The selection process consists of a written test and a defense of the portfolio.
