Danish Vestas Chooses Rio Grande do Norte to Launch Unprecedented Professional Qualification Program in Renewable Energy.
The Danish multinational Vestas, a global reference in renewable energy solutions, has chosen Rio Grande do Norte to implement its first professional qualification program in Brazil aimed exclusively at the wind sector. The decision reinforces the state’s leading role, which accounts for 28.9% of national wind energy generation, according to company data.
Practical Class at 756 MW Complex Marks Start of Training
The technical training is conducted in partnership with SENAI-RN and lasts for two years. The course is free and aimed at residents of communities near the parks operated by Vestas in Brazil.
The first class consists of 66 students from Lagoa Nova and surrounding areas, who have already participated in practical activities at the Serra do Tigre Wind Complex, located in São Tomé (RN).

Wind turbines have become the target of lawsuits because residents swear that a sound they cannot hear is harming them, while experts try to contain the fear of “wind turbine syndrome,” which threatens to halt construction, investments, and billion-dollar projects in several communities across the country.

Brazil maintains 5th position globally in wind energy and reaches 36 GW of installed capacity.

The Brazilian Northeast is receiving the largest wave of investments in clean energy ever seen in the country, with R$ 200 billion in wind and solar, 9,000 km of transmission lines, and a promise that could change the economy of 60 million people.

During the visit to the complex, considered one of the largest currently under construction in the country, the students were able to follow the installation of turbines and understand the operation of the wind turbines.
The renewable energy project has an installed capacity of 756 megawatts (MW) and, according to Vestas, its operation will avoid more than a thousand tons of CO₂ per year in the atmosphere.
“The National Professional Technical Training Program in Electromechanics aims to actively contribute to the development and preparation of young talents living around the wind farms built and operated by Vestas in Brazil,” the company revealed.
Green Jobs and Local Economic Growth
In addition to the training, Vestas announced a package of initiatives aimed at strengthening the renewable energy sector in Brazil, including domestic production of high-tech turbines and partnerships to stimulate the supply chain.
The proposal aligns with the International Labour Organization (ILO) estimate, which predicts 38 million jobs in the clean energy sector by 2030.
In Brazil, 10% of global green jobs are already concentrated, placing the country as the second largest employer in the sector worldwide.
Recent studies also reveal that the presence of wind farms has generated significant economic impacts: Brazilian municipalities with this type of investment have seen an average increase of 24.98% in per capita GDP, reaching 29.14% in the Northeast.
Interior of RN is an Example of Transformation through Renewable Energy
With the arrival of the training program, young people from communities like Lagoa Nova now envision a promising future in the renewable energy sector.
The free technical training, combined with direct contact with large-scale projects, represents not only an entry point into the job market but also a development alternative for the interior of Potiguar.
