Government Allocates R$ 119 Million to Pave Highway with Concrete. Project Promises to Revolutionize Local Infrastructure, Facilitating Transportation and Stimulating Economic Growth in the Central Region of the State.

The connection between the municipalities of Mato Rico and Roncador, previously marked by logistical challenges, is about to become a route for development and progress.

This change promises to not only facilitate transportation but also stimulate the economic and social growth of the entire central region of the State.

The Government of Paraná announced an investment of R$ 119 million for the paving of PR-239, connecting Mato Rico to Roncador.

The project, conducted by the Department of Highways of Paraná (DER/PR), plans to replace dirt sections with a modern concrete highway, covering a length of 19.89 kilometers.

This project is part of the Strategic Program for Infrastructure and Transport Logistics of Paraná, an initiative funded by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) aimed at strengthening the state road network.

The paving of PR-239 is a long-standing demand of local residents and producers.

The poor condition of the dirt road has always been an obstacle to the region’s development, making travel difficult, especially during rainy periods.

With the new paved highway, expectations are for a substantial improvement in logistics, boosting sectors like agriculture, commerce, and tourism.

Project Details

The highway will be built using Hot Mix Asphalt Concrete (HBAC), a resistant and durable material, ideal for supporting heavy vehicle traffic and the region’s climatic conditions.

The road will feature two traffic lanes, each 3.5 meters wide, plus 1.5-meter shoulders on both sides, ensuring greater safety and fluidity for motorists.

In the urban section of Mato Rico, sidewalks for pedestrians will be installed, 2.1 meters wide in both directions, along with road lighting.

These changes are essential to improve urban mobility and increase the safety of the population. As the road already has limited space in this area, there will be no shoulders in this section.

Another important aspect of the project is the construction of a new bridge over the Cancã River, near the urban area of Roncador.

This structure will measure 36.6 meters in length and will include two traffic lanes of 3.5 meters, 1.5-meter shoulders, and 1.9-meter pedestrian sidewalks.

With these measures, the bridge will offer accessibility and safety for motorists and pedestrians.

Additionally, modern drainage systems will be implemented to prevent water accumulation on the roadway, minimizing erosion risks and extending the lifespan of the pavement.

The road signs will also be renewed, with directional signs and reflective strips, making the highway safer for all users.

Socioeconomic Impact

The paving of PR-239 will bring positive impacts to the entire central region of Paraná.

The drainage of agricultural production will be facilitated, directly benefiting rural producers and industries that rely on efficient transportation.

The municipality of Mato Rico, for example, has agriculture as its main economic activity, being a major producer of soybeans, corn, and milk.

With the new road, transporting these products to distribution centers will be quicker and more cost-effective.

Moreover, local commerce can strengthen, as improving road infrastructure will attract more visitors and investors.

The paving will also contribute to tourism in the region, highlighting the natural beauty and historical sites of Mato Rico and Roncador.

Rural and ecological tourism has gained strength in Paraná, and a quality access road can boost this sector.

Another relevant point is the social impact. The new road will facilitate the population’s access to essential services, such as health and education.

Currently, residents face difficulties reaching hospitals and schools in neighboring municipalities, especially during the rainy season when the dirt road becomes almost impassable.

With the paving, these difficulties will be reduced, providing a better quality of life for citizens.

The project will also generate direct and indirect jobs. During the execution of the work, various job opportunities will be created for workers, engineers, and technicians.

Additionally, the economic movement stimulated by the new highway may result in the establishment of new businesses in the region, consolidating a cycle of sustainable growth.

Next Steps

The execution of the project is in the detailed planning phase. The bidding process has already been completed, and the consortium responsible for the construction will be officially announced soon.

After the contract is signed, it is expected that the service order will be issued in the coming months, starting the work, which will have an execution period of 600 calendar days, approximately 20 months.

During this period, the work will involve everything from earthworks and soil compaction to pavement application, bridge construction, and installation of signage.

The local community will be kept informed about the progress of the work, ensuring transparency and public engagement in the project.

Additionally, the Government of Paraná is conducting studies to ensure that the environmental impact of the project is minimized.

Measures such as the preservation of green areas near the highway and the implementation of efficient drainage systems are among the priorities to ensure that the project is sustainable in the long term.

According to experts, the paving of PR-239 between Mato Rico and Roncador is a milestone for the development of Paraná.

This investment of R$ 119 million reflects the state government’s commitment to modernizing road infrastructure and promoting regional economic growth.

With a safe and efficient road, the region will become more attractive for investments and businesses, consolidating itself as a development hub.

In addition to the economic benefits, the project will bring more comfort and safety for drivers, pedestrians, and residents of the involved cities.
