The Ship Will Make a Stop in Angra dos Reis Before Its Installation in the Field, and the Vessel’s Oil Production Will Start Still This Year
SBM Offshore, a Dutch company, announced that the floating production storage and offloading unit (FPSO) Sepetiba has departed from the Bomesc shipyard in China, heading towards the Mero field, located in the Santos Basin. It is expected that the vessel’s oil production will begin in the second half of 2023. Before its installation in the field, the ship will make a stop in the sheltered waters of Angra dos Reis (RJ) for technical and legal inspections.
The FPSO Sepetiba has successfully passed the topsides integration and onshore commissioning phases at the Bomesc shipyard. This will be the third FPSO of SBM Offshore’s Fast4Ward model. The Fast4Ward program was developed to streamline the vessel construction process and reduce costs in oil production.
Contract with Petrobras and FPSO Capacity
SBM Offshore has a contract with Petrobras for the leasing and operation of the FPSO Sepetiba for 22 years and six months. The FPSO will have the capacity to produce up to 180,000 barrels of oil per day and store up to 1,400,000 barrels of oil. Petrobras is the operator of the Mero field, holding a 38.6% stake, in partnership with Shell Brasil (19.3%), TotalEnergies (19.3%), CNPC (9.65%), CNOOC Petroleum Brasil (9.65%), and Pré-Sal Petróleo S.A – PPSA (3.5%), representing the Union in the uncontracted area.
