With a mid-range smartphone price, Honda’s scooter, even though it is not very powerful, has been a huge attraction for consumers, as it is already practically a tradition in the country to use bicycles.
If the model reaches Brazil, its price, which is equivalent to a smartphone, will also attract attention, as despite not requiring a license, it will come in around R$ 4,000 with taxes. A scooter like this is not considered a moped by the State Department of Transit (Detran), so it will not be necessary to have a driver’s license to ride it, in addition to being able to ride on bike lanes.
Far Beyond the Price of a Smartphone, Honda Scooter Offers a Range of 80 km
Even with a simple 350W motor, Honda’s scooter attracts consumers with its battery options. Check out the three below:
- 48V15Ah, with 720 watt-hours;
- 48V20Ah with 960 watt-hours;
- 48V24Ah with 1,152 watt-hours.
The range of the first battery is 55km, the intermediate one has a range of 70 km, and the last and most powerful allows the scooter to cover 80km on a single charge.
If consumers decide to use the pedals included with the U-BE, the range can also be increased in the future. Compared to the U-GO, an electric scooter with a 1,200 Watts motor that has a maximum speed of 53 km/h, the U-BE wins due to its more accessible price. The A-GO even has a battery that delivers a range of 133 km.
Multinational Honda Caring About Safety
Honda is developing in its new scooter an airbag system to help ensure that riders have greater safety on the road. According to the manufacturer, many accidents cause injuries due to frontal impacts, and if an airbag is introduced, it could permanently reduce damages.
The new system to be implemented is narrower and aims to prevent a collision between the rider and obstacles that may harm them. Tests are being conducted on scooters, as these models are more commonly used in urban areas where there is a higher number of accidents. The chosen model was the PCX Scooter, but the system could be implemented in other models.
