Two Accumulators Are on Their Way to the Nuclear Plant in Angra dos Reis. The Equipment Ordered by Eletronuclear from Nuclep Will Be for Angra 3
Finally, the Construction of the Nuclear Plant in Angra 3 Begins in October 2021. Eight accumulators ordered from Nuclep by Eletronuclear to integrate into the cooling system of Angra 3; of these, two are already on their way to the plant.

Two accumulators (JNG 12 and JNG 21) have already left the Nuclep manufacturing plant heading to the general warehouse of the Angra 3 nuclear plant. The expectation is that the other six units will be delivered to Eletronuclear by the end of 2021.
“A project like this, with nuclear Category I requirements, which is the Core Business of our company, requires specialized labor with specific manufacturing qualifications. There is currently no viability for execution in any common boiler company. This highlights and emphasizes the fundamental role of Nuclep in the Brazilian Nuclear Program,” commented the company’s president, Admiral Carlos Henrique Silva Seixas, in an exclusive interview with Petronotícias.

About the Equipment
The accumulators that are part of the cooling system of the plant are passive system equipment, meaning they do not depend on electric power. In an emergency, they discharge pressurized water rich in boron into the reactor circuit to perform cooling.
Weighing 22 tons and measuring approximately 14.2 meters in length, each unit has a maximum operational capacity of 34m³ and 56 tons.
In addition to the accumulators, Nuclep is also building condensers for the Angra 3 nuclear plant, components responsible for cooling the secondary circuit (water that does not pass through the reactor).
