With Extremely High Utilization Factor, Petrobras Records New Production Records in Its Refineries in the Third Quarter of 2024.
You won’t believe the numbers that Petrobras has achieved! The refineries of the state-owned company are running at full steam, showing that 2024 is the year of records and overcoming.
Petrobras’ refining park operated with an impressive Refinery Utilization Factor (FUT) of 96.8% in September, representing the best monthly result of 2024. Consequently, the accumulated total for the third quarter of the year reached the level of 95.2%, an extraordinary performance.
Petrobras Operated with FUT
The FUT represents the volume of oil processed in relation to the reference load of the refineries, taking into account the design limits of the assets, while respecting safety, environmental, and quality requirements of the produced derivatives.

While the world was paying more for fuel, the 100 largest oil companies on the planet raked in an extra $23 billion in just 30 days of blockage in the Strait of Hormuz.
In the third quarter of this year, a record for processing pre-salt oils was also recorded in the distillation units, with 73% of the total load processed, and a record for gasoline production with a volume of 6.38 million m³ in the quarter.
Production Records at Duque de Caxias Refinery
The production of asphalt was also significant, reaching 803 thousand tons in the quarter, with production records in September at the Duque de Caxias Refinery (Reduc, RJ), with 32 thousand tons, and at the Presidente Getúlio Vargas Refinery (Repar, PR), with 51 thousand tons.
According to the Director of Industrial Processes at Petrobras, William França da Silva, the results achieved are a result of investments in modernization projects for the units, the reliability of the assets, process optimization, and the application of innovative technologies. “With this quarter’s data, we are demonstrating Petrobras’ commitment to the efficiency and profitability of its operations. The milestones were achieved due to the integrated work of the entire company,” he emphasized.
