According to Petrobras, the Long Duration Test aims to evaluate the reservoir’s behavior during production and the characteristics of its oil
Continuing the announcement made on May 11, 2020, Petrobras informed that it started on Saturday (May 16) the Long Duration Test (LDT) in the area of the Forno Discovery Evaluation Plan, in the Albacora oil field, located in the pre-salt of the Campos Basin. This will be the first Long Duration Test conducted in the pre-salt of the Albacora field
The state-owned company informs that the Long Duration Test aims to evaluate the reservoir’s behavior during production and the characteristics of its oil.
The technical information gathered during the testing phase will support the further development of the field, which is part of the Albacora revitalization project, of which Forno is a part.
“Having a reserve in this area of the pre-salt, below the post-salt reservoir, is important because it opens up a perspective for the field and its revitalization,” said Petrobras’ Exploration & Production director, Carlos Alberto Pereira de Oliveira, in a statement.
Petrobras: Oil Discovery Evaluation Plan of the Forno Area
According to Petrobras, the Albacora field, in the Campos Basin, 184 km from the city of Macaé, began its production in the post-salt reservoirs in 1987, with the FPSO PP Morais.
Based on indications of oil in the pre-salt layer of the concession, Petrobras initiated the EAP in the area called Forno, where drilling and seismic activities have already been carried out.
The LDT is a new phase of the EAP, which provides for the interconnection of the well to the FPSO P-31, anchored in water depths of approximately 325 meters. This phase aims to demonstrate the production potential of the reservoir, when the production will have a testing nature.
Petrobras is the operator (100%) of the Albacora field and will continue the EAP of the area.
