The BMW Vehicles That Arrived at the Port of Itajaí Through Import Operation This Week Underwent Transportation by Roll On Roll Off Technology at the Terminal of the Complex, Which Is Gradually Resuming Operations with This Type of Cargo
The Port of Itajaí, located in the state of Santa Catarina, received last Wednesday, (05/25), about 784 BMW vehicles in an import operation of the goods at the location. And with this activity, the complex continues its recovery of vehicle transportation operations, taking advantage of the Roll On Roll Off system for cargo handling within the port terminal.
BMW Brazil Imports 784 Vehicles That Arrived at the Port of Itajaí This Week and Were Disembarked by Roll On Roll Off System at the Complex
After two years without conducting any activity in the vehicle segment, the Port of Itajaí resumed operations for handling this type of goods in March of this year and, gradually, opens its doors for activities. And this Wednesday the complex received the attraction of the ship Florida Highway, which carried out the import of 784 vehicles from BMW for sale in the national territory.
With an approximate volume of 1,558 tons, this is already the third cargo received in 2022 by the Florida Highway and reinforces the commitment of the Port of Itajaí to continue its vehicle transportation operations in the complex. The entire fleet of BMW vehicles that arrived in the country through import will be destined for BMW Brazil and, before docking at the Port of Itajaí, passed through the Port of Santos. Thus, the automotive company continues its business in various complexes of the Brazilian port sector.

With 50 tons of plastic waste, a 30-meter bridge was assembled over a river in Scotland. It seems like an ordinary construction, but it doesn’t use traditional wood or steel and can even be disassembled.

Without concrete, without traditional cleaning, and without common separation, a block made of recycled plastic transforms problematic waste into a rigid piece for walls and structures.
The highlight of the operation was the use of the Roll On Roll Off system for transporting the vehicles within the complex itself. This is because this technology ensures that vehicles are driven off the ship and directed to a primary area of the port much more practically and quickly.
And depending on the volume and number of vehicles on board, disembarking vehicles using the Roll On Roll Off system can be completed in less than five hours. Thus, the Port of Itajaí ensures much more practicality and agility in importing these goods.
Docking of the Florida Highway with BMW Ships Marks Another Step Taken by This Port Complex Towards Normalization of Its Vehicle Transportation Operations
The Port of Itajaí underwent a long process of halting various cargo handling activities due to the pandemic, but it is now able to resume vehicle transportation, and the arrival of the ship with the BMW cargo marked a significant advance in this segment.
And all this was only possible thanks to the investments made by the port authority in the infrastructure of the complex and, mainly, in the Roll On Roll Off system, which allowed for a more practical import.
Therefore, Fábio da Veiga, superintendent of the Port of Itajaí, emphasizes that “The Port of Itajaí stands out in logistics, distinguishing itself among other Brazilian ports by the Roll On Roll Off system. The qualification of our port workers and the success of this type of operation demonstrate full capacity and conditions for this type of handling. Without a doubt, a union that strengthens the Port of Itajaí, with extreme operational efficiency.”
Finally, the mayor of Itajaí, Volnei Morastoni, reaffirmed the importance of import operations in the complex for the city and the entire state of Santa Catarina and celebrated the resumption of vehicle transportation operations in the complex.
