Historic Investment of R$ 132 Million in Infrastructure Promises to Transform Teresina into One of the Best Northeastern Capitals
This Monday, November 11, the service order for the start of the works on the duplication and adaptation of the Teresina Ring Road, section of BR-343/PI, will be signed. With the presence of the regional superintendent of the National Department of Transportation Infrastructure (DNIT) in Piauí, José Ribamar Bastos, and Governor Rafael Fonteles, the event will take place at 9 AM on Avenida dos Ipês, near the Fish Market. With a robust budget of R$ 132 million, the project aims to connect the east and south zones of the capital more efficiently.
Objective of the Works
The Teresina Ring Road is an essential route that connects various neighborhoods in the city, including Planalto Uruguai, Gurupi, Grande Dirceu, Recanto das Palmeiras, and Tancredo Neves. The purpose of the works is not only to increase traffic capacity but also to provide improvements in safety and fluidity for drivers and pedestrians. The project includes:
- Duplication of Lanes: The lanes will be expanded to allow for a greater flow of vehicles and reduce congestion.
- High-Quality Paving: With durable and resistant materials, the new paving should lower future maintenance costs.
- Enhanced Signage: With more visible signs and markings, drivers will have clearer guidance during the journey.
- Modernized Intersections: To facilitate the transition between different roads and avoid dangerous crossings.
Importance of BR-343 for Teresina
Superintendent José Ribamar Bastos emphasizes that BR-343 is a fundamental route for mobility in Teresina. The adaptation of this road is a response to rapid urban growth and increased traffic in recent years. According to him, the works aim to balance vehicle flow with user safety, which is essential for the quality of life of the local population.

Impact on Traffic and Deadline for Completion
The expected completion deadline for the works is 36 months, or approximately three years. During this period, there may be traffic adjustments in the local area to allow for the progress of the works. DNIT informs that control measures and temporary detours will be implemented to minimize disruptions for the population.
The Teresina Ring Road is a project of great importance for the capital of Piauí. With a significant investment and a detailed project, it is expected that the duplication and improvements on BR-343 will bring lasting benefits, facilitating mobility between areas of the city and increasing the safety of all who use the road.
