The partnership between Ecovix and Asmar includes a cooperation agreement, with technology transfer from the Chilean company to the Brazilian one, in order to increase the chances of winning the upcoming bid.
This is the first move by Nova Participações, the holding company controlling Ecovix, in the resumption of shipbuilding at the Rio Grande (RS) shipyard. According to Ecovix, the Chileans have developed vast knowledge in polar vessels due to their close proximity to the Antarctic continent.

While carefully and responsibly seeking a positive outcome in the polar vessel bid, Ecovix is committed to boosting its participation in other projects of this scale. To achieve this, it has hired Luiz Fernando Pugliesi, responsible for the company’s new business development. According to him, a plan has been devised aiming at growth in the business portfolio.
“Our shipyard is very well-equipped. We have everything to build vessels of any size, and I believe we also have space for repairs and maintenance,” emphasizes Luiz Fernando.
Winning the polar vessel bid, Luiz Fernando notes, will be a great opportunity for the Rio Grande Shipyard and the entire Southern Region community, as it will create jobs and income for the city.
The executive also states that Ecovix intends to invest in other new business opportunities, “We have developed a plan aimed at considerable growth in the business portfolio, and we have much to explore. Our shipyard is very well-equipped. We have everything to build vessels of any size, and I believe we also have space for repairs and maintenance. There is a market, and we are seeking opportunities. We will focus on this new possibility of building the first polar vessel in Brazil. And this really excites me.”
