The Transport Of A 250-Ton Transformer, Heading Toward The Serra Da Palmeira Wind Farm, Suffered A Temporary Interruption Last Weekend In Paraíba.

According To The Site G1 Paraíba, The Federal Highway Police (PRF) Ordered The Stop On Saturday Night (03/22) And In The Early Hours Of Sunday (03/23). This Decision Ensured The Rest Of The Teams Responsible For The Escort And Logistics Of The Convoy.

According To The Portal, The Equipment Will Remain Parked At Km 112 Of BR-230, In The Municipality Of Ingá, Heading João Pessoa – Campina Grande.

Furthermore, The PRF Will Resume The Escort At 9:30 PM On Sunday (03/23). Thus, The Arrival In Campina Grande Is Expected For The Morning Of Monday (03/24).

Slow Movement, But Carefully Planned

The Company CGT Brasil Is Transporting The Transformer, Which Was Manufactured By China With A Length Of 11.2 Meters, Width Of 4.2 Meters, And Height Of 4.5 Meters.

To Enable This Complex Operation, The Company Set Up A Structure With Three Trucks, Two Semi-Trailers, 12 PRF Vehicles, And Eight Motorcycles.

Thus, The Convoy Reaches A Length Of 113.7 Meters And A Total Weight Of 600 Tons.

Additionally, The Movement Is Occurring At An Average Speed Of 7 Km/h, Just To Ensure Safety During The Journey.

Therefore, Due To Traffic Issues, The Operation Primarily Takes Place At Night And In The Early Hours.

However, The Passage Through The Southwestern Beltway Of Campina Grande Will Take Place During The Day, As The Stretch Is Undergoing Construction And Requires Extra Care.

The Wind Farm Represents A Robust Investment And Large-Scale Supply

According To G1, The Serra Da Palmeira Wind Farm Is Being Constructed In The Region Of Seridó Paraibano. It Will Cover The Municipalities Of Picuí, Nova Palmeira, Pedra Lavrada, São Vicente Do Seridó, And Baraúna.

In Addition, The Complex Will Feature 108 Wind Turbines And Offer An Installed Capacity Of 648 MW, Enough To Supply Up To 1.7 Million People.

The Company Began The Works In October 2023 And Is Following The Expected Schedule To Complete Them In 2025.

Additionally, It Reported That It Intends To Transport A Second Transformer With The Same Characteristics In April. However, The Exact Date For The Operation Has Not Yet Been Defined.

Energy With Local Destination And National Impact

According To The Director Of CGT Brasil, Lucas Cardoso Sanchez, In An Interview With TV Cabo Branco, The Park Will Provide About 40% Of The Energy Demand Of Paraíba.

Moreover, The Excess Energy Will Be Sent To The National Interconnected System (SIN). This Will Directly Contribute To Energy Stability In Various Regions Of Brazil.

The Connection Between The Park’s Substation And The Chesf Substation, Located In Campina Grande, Will Be Made Through A Dedicated Transmission Line.

This Way, The System Will Ensure Energy Efficiency, Minimizing Losses And Expanding The Integration Of Clean Energy Into The National Matrix.

Safety And Caution Along The Route

The PRF, As Highlighted By G1, Emphasized The Importance Of Following Safety Protocols During The Journey.

Therefore, It Advises Drivers And Residents To Avoid Approaching The Moving Convoy.

In Addition, The Corporation Recommends That Vehicles Not Be Parked On The Shoulder Of BR-230, Under Penalty Of Fines Or Seizure.

According To G1, The Operation Started On 03/15, With Departure From Km 94 Of BR-101, In Cabo De Santo Agostinho (PE).

On 03/17, The Transformer Crossed The Border With Paraíba Around 4:30 PM.

Finally, The Equipment’s Final Destination Is The Municipality Of Nova Palmeira, Where It Will Be Installed As Part Of The Wind Farm’s Infrastructure.
