KBB Brazil Shows Increase in Car Prices, Even as the Vehicle Market Declined in February
According to data from the analysis conducted by the National Association of Motor Vehicle Manufacturers (Anfavea), the month of February ended with a decline in the car market, a product that can be purchased with bitcoin. Thus, in February, only 129 thousand vehicles were licensed, which corresponds to a decline of 22.8% compared to the same period last year. However, car prices – just like the price of fuels – continue to rise, as shown by KBB Brazil’s Price Variation Monitor, a company specializing in new and used car prices.
According to KBB Brazil’s survey released on the Istoé Dinheiro portal, the major contributors to the price increase were used cars (up to 3 years old), with an average change of 2.96%, and used cars (4 to 10 years old), which increased by 1.87% on average. The 0 km cars, on the other hand, saw an increase of only 0.25% in their prices.

Thus, when conducting a more detailed analysis of the prices of 0km cars, KBB Brazil highlights that there was an increase of 0.36% in the 2022 models, while the 2021 models did not show significant changes. These variations are much smaller compared to what was observed throughout the year 2021, when the 2022 models varied by 1.67% and the 2021 models experienced an average monthly change of 1.09%.

Regarding used and certified vehicles, KBB Brazil’s data showed a notable reduction in inflation for these categories compared to January while maintaining the upward trend. Concerning the used cars, which are up to three years old, the 2020 model cars saw the highest price increase in February: totaling an average of 4.21%, a figure that leaves these cars with a variation significantly higher than that of last year, when the average increase was 1.06% per month.

As for used cars, from 4 to 10 years in activity, KBB Brazil showed a variation of 1.87%, a value lower than the average of 2.04% monthly variation analyzed during the past year. Among the model years in this sector, the 2012 cars had the highest price increase in February, presenting a variation of 2.66%.
