China continues to advance its ambitious railway expansion plan with its new high-speed train. By 2030, the country aims to reach 60,000 km of high-speed rail in operation. This number represents a leap from the 48,000 km projected by the end of 2024.

When the People’s Republic of China was founded in 1949, the country had only 21,800 km of railways.
Now, the total network of tracks is expected to reach 180,000 km by 2030, compared to 162,000 km at the end of 2024.

Technological Advancement with the CR450
The latest achievement was the presentation, at the end of 2024, of the prototype of the CR450 high-speed train.
With an operational speed of 400 km/h and test peaks of up to 450 km/h, it surpasses the current CR400 Fuxing series trains, which operate at 350 km/h.
The CR450 represents the new generation of Chinese railway engineering. Advanced control systems, innovations in lifting technology, and independent development position the country as a global reference in the sector.
Global Presence of Chinese Trains
China’s railway technology has also been gaining ground outside the country.
The Jakarta-Bandung High-Speed Railway in Indonesia has already transported over 10 million passengers since October 2023.
The trains, operated by Indonesian drivers, reach 350 km/h and fully utilize Chinese systems and components.
