Kruger Shalati: The Train on the Bridge unites train, bridge, and luxury hotel with a view of African wildlife.
Installed on a historic bridge in Kruger National Park, South Africa, Kruger Shalati: The Train on the Bridge has caught attention for offering a lodging experience different from the traditional. The establishment operates in refurbished train carriages permanently positioned over the Sabie River, combining comfort, natural landscapes, and African wildlife observation in one location.
Located in one of the largest game reserves on the African continent, the hotel was inaugurated in December 2020, after delays caused by the Covid-19 pandemic. Currently, it welcomes guests in its fourth summer season.

The train installed on the Selati Bridge references the first visitors authorized to explore Kruger National Park in the early 1920s. At that time, the train compositions stayed overnight exactly in the same area where the establishment is currently located.
The proposal seeks to honor these early explorers while welcoming travelers from different parts of the world.

Kruger Shalati: The Train on the Bridge offers exclusive accommodations
The structure was developed to combine the original railway architecture with modern hospitality elements.
In total, the complex has 31 accommodations:
- 24 suites installed in the train carriages;
- 7 suites located on the bridge.
The spaces received contemporary finishes and details inspired by the art deco style. Additionally, the accommodations have balconies facing the Sabie River.
The large windows allow guests to observe the landscape and the movement of animals inhabiting the reserve.

Wildlife is one of the main attractions
Among the unique features of the accommodation is the proximity to the fauna of Kruger National Park.
The location favors the observation of well-known species in the region, including lions, leopards, rhinos, elephants, and buffaloes. Meanwhile, the river flowing under the bridge helps create a peaceful setting integrated with nature.
The experience combines moments of relaxation with the possibility of observing wildlife directly from the suites.
Suspended pool and gastronomy complete the experience
In addition to the accommodations, the establishment features a lookout equipped with a suspended pool over the bridge.
The space was designed to offer a privileged view of the surrounding natural environment. The hotel’s restaurant presents dishes prepared with ingredients uncommon to many visitors.

Among the options mentioned are crocodile carpaccio, venison, and gazelle meat.
The Kruger Shalati: The Train on the Bridge was developed for those seeking a different form of accommodation within one of Africa’s most well-known natural areas.
Combining a historic train, a century-old bridge, and luxury accommodations, the venture offers a proposal aimed both at those who wish to relax and those interested in exploring the landscape and wildlife surrounding Kruger National Park.
