Braskem Closes First Partnership for Household Plastic Waste Removal
Environmental engineer and head of the plastic waste separation plant at Tecipar, Lucas Faveri, explains that the technology used in the partnership with Braskem is a unique semi-mechanized model in the state of São Paulo that can be scaled, helping municipalities reduce costs with selective collection and boosting recycling rates.

“A large part of projects focused on increasing recyclability run into the high operational costs of sorting and waste collection systems. Information and economic viability are two very important issues in this process, and in this sense, partnerships between companies, like the one we are establishing with Braskem, and the movement towards more sustainable habits that we observe in society, help us innovate and think of much more effective solutions,” emphasizes Faveri.
The Partnership Between Braskem and Tecipar Will Facilitate Plastic Waste Recycling
Support for technologies and systems that can facilitate recycling in the country is among the eight pillars of Braskem’s commitment to the Circular Economy. In addition to the partnership with Tecipar, Braskem has been working with companies specialized in mechanical recycling.

The company is also continuing to invest in research and technology to boost chemical recycling in the country. “It is a joint effort, in which community engagement for conscious consumption and proper disposal of plastic waste is essential,” states the Braskem executive.
Recycled polyethylene and polypropylene resins contribute to expanding Braskem’s portfolio of sustainable solutions under the I’m greenTM brand, used by major companies to produce plastic items with a better environmental footprint, such as the recently launched recycled plastic chairs by Tramontina and the line of semi-automatic and automatic washing machines by Colormaq, made with plastic resin after consumption.
