The Agribusiness in Minas Gerais Shows Strength with Products Like Cheese Bread, Vegan Cheeses, Pequi, Baru, and Exports. Mining Companies Make Their Presence Felt at Food and Beverage Fair. Participation Strengthens the Sector and Opens Doors to New International Businesses
The agribusiness in Minas Gerais increasingly demonstrates the strength of its production and diversity. A recent example is the participation of mining companies at Expoalimentaria, which will take place from September 24 to 26 in Lima, Peru.
According to a report published, this is the largest food and beverage fair in South America and one of the most important spaces to connect producers with international buyers.
With the support of the Secretariat of Agriculture, Livestock, and Food Supply of Minas Gerais (Seapa-MG), eight companies from the state participated in the event and brought products that reflect tradition, innovation, and market potential.

The government aims to reach 700 open markets for agriculture by the end of the year and has already opened 594 since 2023, with 29 products released in 9 countries in April.
-
Guava producers in Rio Grande do Sul are discarding tons of fruit because the buying companies have simply stopped accepting the production, even with one of the best harvests in recent years, while consumers are paying increasingly higher prices.
-
At the same time that a traditional farmer plants lettuce in the field and waits up to 90 days for the harvest, a single Japanese factory produces 30,000 heads of lettuce per day, without soil, without pesticides, and not dependent on the season, with automated harvesting that surprises the world.

After soybeans, producers in the northwestern region of São Paulo are betting on sorghum in areas of up to 900 hectares and see the crop as a more economical and climate-resistant solution to ensure income, even with challenges of rain, drought, and lack of storage facilities.
The meeting is expected to receive around 26,000 visitors from 17 countries, including distributors, importers, and opinion leaders in the sector.
The initiative also had the partnership of the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (Mapa) and the Brazilian Embassy in Lima, strengthening the positioning of mining brands in the global arena.
Cheese Bread as the Mining Business Card
One of the highlights of the agribusiness in Minas Gerais is the premium cheese bread, which promises to attract the attention of fair attendees.
The product, considered one of the gastronomic symbols of the state, was brought by one of the eight companies participating in the delegation.
Besides attracting local consumers, cheese bread opens doors to new markets, as it combines practicality, cultural identity, and great international acceptance.
The presence of this product in Lima reinforces how the mining tradition can transform into a commercial opportunity, especially in an environment where buyers seek novelties that combine quality and originality.
Seapa-MG worked closely with entrepreneurs to provide guidance on necessary technical adjustments, from entering samples into Peru to market analysis and publicity strategies.
Thus, the mining cheese bread stands out not only as a typical food but also as a competitive product on a global level.
Vegan Cheeses Gain Space in the International Showcase
Another strong point of the agribusiness in Minas Gerais was the presence of cheese makers that focused on vegan lines.
The products, made without animal ingredients, were brought as an innovative alternative to meet different consumer profiles.
In a fair that receives visitors from 17 countries, offering options that align with global consumption trends becomes strategic to expand business opportunities.
In addition to vegan cheeses, the mining delegation also presents sweets, caramels, and even machinery for the food industry, reinforcing the versatility of local production.
The technical advisor of Seapa-MG, Manoela Teixeira, highlighted that the companies were prepared to showcase their competitiveness, with support from the planning phase to the positioning at the booth.
The idea was not only to display the vegan cheeses and other products but also to create solid connections to expand exports from Minas Gerais in the near future.
Pequi and Baru Represent the Mining Cerrado Abroad
Among the novelties of the agribusiness in Minas Gerais at Expoalimentaria, products from the cerrado like pequi derivatives and baru nuts are also present.
Pequi, a typical fruit of the region, gains space with oils and unique preparations. Baru will be presented in the form of nuts and also processed to make different lines of food.
Besides these, other delicacies from the mining cerrado are present, such as sour coconut beer and jatobá flour.
These products stand out for their direct connection to Brazilian biodiversity and the potential to be highlighted as exotic ingredients in the international market.

Fair visitors will be able to experience flavors that, though uncommon in other countries, carry great cultural and nutritional value.
By presenting pequi and baru at the event, mining companies demonstrate how regional diversity can be transformed into a competitive advantage, generating curiosity and attracting potential business partners.
Minas Gerais Exports to Peru in the Spotlight
The agribusiness in Minas Gerais will also be represented at Expoalimentaria by concrete data on exports.
In 2024, the state sent approximately 4,000 tons of products to Peru, totaling 12 million dollars in business.
Despite these numbers, Peru ranks only 72nd in the overall ranking of mining exports destinations and 7th among South American countries.
Among the main exported products are chicken meat, cocoa derivatives, cereal-based items, and tobacco.
The presence of mining companies at the fair opens the possibility to expand this participation and make the Peruvian market more relevant in the state’s export scenario.
In addition to the business rounds organized during the event, companies will have access to networking meetings, cocktails, and lectures with industry leaders, reinforcing the role of Seapa-MG in supporting both the institutional positioning of Minas Gerais and the commercial expansion of its brands.
This movement contributes to creating new opportunities in the field of exports and strengthening the image of mining production in strategic markets.
