Two C-17 Cargo Aircraft from the U.S. Are Heading to Brazil with Equipment and Helicopters for Exercise Tápio 2025 in Campo Grande
Two military cargo planes from the United States are on their way to Brazil to participate in Exercise Tápio 2025. The aircraft, Boeing C-17 Globemaster III model, belong to the New York Air National Guard (NY ANG) and have tail numbers 97-0045 and 01-0188.
These aircraft are transporting equipment and helicopters that will be used during the operation. Exercise Tápio takes place every two years in Campo Grande, Mato Grosso do Sul, and involves a series of coordinated actions between the Brazilian and American Armed Forces.
On the night of last Tuesday, July 29, one of the aircraft landed in Campo Grande. The moment was captured by a live camera from the “Air Traffic” channel.

The military spaceplane that almost took the Cold War into orbit: Boeing X-20 Dyna-Soar was designed to re-enter above Mach 20, fly for up to 40 hours, land like a plane, and transform Titan rockets into a gateway to a new era of orbital warfare.
The video shows the landing and taxiing of the cargo plane, which caught the attention of those watching the broadcast.
The main objective of the exercise is to simulate war situations and train maneuvers in a controlled environment.
The operation includes aircraft from the Brazilian Air Force (FAB) and troops from the Army and Navy of Brazil. Along with NY ANG personnel, actions such as combat logistics, aeromedical evacuation, irregular conflicts, and tactical reconnaissance are practiced.
In addition to the C-17s, the NY ANG usually sends aircraft like the HC-130J Combat King II. This model is a modified version of the classic Hercules, used for rescues.
The HH-60W Jolly Green II helicopter also participates, which is a variant of the Black Hawk, adapted for search and rescue missions in conflict areas.
The C-17 jets are essential for transporting these helicopters and the necessary materials for the activities.
A photo from a previous edition in 2023 shows one of these aircraft unloading equipment on Brazilian soil.
Exercise Tápio 2025 officially begins this Thursday, July 31, and will run until August 16. All actions will be concentrated at the Campo Grande Air Base.
