Itau Unibanco Recently Announced the Launch of Its Electric Car Rental Service, Which Is Set to Begin Operations Together with the New Vehicles in Pilot Phase in the First Half of 2021
The electric car rental service model by Itau includes a fixed initial fee and a per-minute charge for vehicle usage, but prices have not yet been defined. All cars will have internet connectivity. Just like in the bike-sharing service already operated by Itau, electric cars can be returned at different stations from where they were picked up, which are also used for charging.

Electric Car Rental in Brazil
The pilot project for Itau’s electric vehicles called “vec Itau” is scheduled for February 2021, but only employees from São Paulo will be allowed to rent electric cars at this initial stage, to be used between the institution’s buildings.
Only in the second half of the year will the service be available to all city residents. There is still no talk of expanding the project to include electric vehicles in other regions of Brazil.

Test Participants
Those participating in the tests will be able to move their vehicles between the bank’s administrative centers in the city, and the first phase of the experiment is expected to take place throughout the first half of 2021. Four banking administrative centers in São Paulo will have parking spots for electric cars, which will also have charging points.
The second stage of the tests, on the other hand, should involve some invited guests, who may be customers or non-customers of the bank, still within the city of São Paulo. This phase is expected to occur in the second half of the following year.
