The Chevrolet Bolt EUV Continues to Stand Out as an Excellent Choice in the Electric Vehicle Segment. Get to Know the Favorable and Unfavorable Aspects of This Model Up Close.

A crucial feature of the Chevrolet Bolt EUV is the storage space. Even with its increased dimensions, the trunk has failed to offer more space; on the contrary. It now has 462 liters, compared to 478 liters of the Bolt EV. In practice, it seems that the size listed in the technical sheet does not reflect the storage capacity. On the other hand, even smaller models like the BYD Dolphin have a theoretically smaller trunk but manage to accommodate more items.

The Chevrolet Bolt EUV from GM is being sold for R$ 279,990, a price that places it near premium and more modern models available in the market. Even with the competition from Chinese products, General Motors has not reduced the price of its electric compact SUV. This decision can be attributed to the limited supply in Brazil and the forecast that the car will be discontinued by the end of 2023.

This strategy can be explained by the fixed batch offered to Brazil and the promise that the car will already be discontinued by the end of 2023.

Problems with the Suspension of the Chevrolet Bolt EUV

We identified a few issues that we believe could be improved in the Chevrolet Bolt EUV.

3. Suspension System

If in the Bolt EV we observed that the suspension was quite stiff, in the case of the Chevrolet Bolt EUV, it is excessively soft. This can be less bothersome in certain situations, like going over speed bumps, but on bumpy roads, the impacts are more noticeable. It is important to emphasize that the suspension system is McPherson at the front and torsion beam at the rear.

One feature that undeniably differentiates the Chevrolet Bolt EUV and makes it superior to the Bolt EV is its interior space. Although built on the same platform, the SUV is 14 centimeters longer than the Bolt EV (4.30 meters compared to 4.16 meters), 1 centimeter wider (1.77 meters compared to 1.76 meters), and has a wheelbase 7 centimeters longer (2.67 meters compared to 2.60 meters).

Due to these new dimensions, the vehicle becomes considerably more spacious in the rear seat, allowing three adults to fit comfortably without difficulties.

In terms of connectivity, it is important to highlight that the Bolt EUV is compatible with Chevrolet’s concierge service in Brazil, known as OnStar. Additionally, the SUV can be monitored through the My Chevrolet app.

Furthermore, the vehicle offers a range of amenities designed to provide a more comfortable experience for users, such as rain sensors, twilight sensors, a 360º camera to assist with maneuvers, semi-autonomous parking system, front and rear parking sensors, full LED headlights, and electronic parking brake.

The Chevrolet Bolt EUV is already an old project considering that the electric vehicle market has evolved significantly, but its technology package is still excellent and very comprehensive.

The compact SUV includes a complete Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) that encompasses front collision warning, automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, blind-spot alert and rear cross-traffic alert, lane-keeping assist, and automatic high beams. Moreover, the electric vehicle is one of the few on the market that is connected, with integrated 4G connectivity and an excellent multimedia center allowing for the native installation of applications.

3. Detailing

Like the Bolt EV, the Chevrolet Bolt EUV retains the excellent detailing of the hatch version, utilizing high-quality materials and superb finishes in the interior, enhancing the perception of being a premium vehicle in the Brazilian market.

It is important to emphasize that all the advanced technology of the Bolt, like the multimedia system and the digital instrument panel, perfectly complements the elegant design of the cabin, especially with the selection of blue tones in the interior.

The performance of the Bolt EUV is comparable to that of the other car in terms of range. Both have a motor of 203hp and 36.7 kgf/m, but in the Bolt EUV, the performance is slightly lower, with a 0 to 100 km/h acceleration in 7.7s (instead of 7.3s). However, in practice, the Bolt EUV still offers great acceleration, with vigorous starts and safe and sufficient recoveries on the road, all accompanied by a quiet environment. **It is important to emphasize that even with the difference in acceleration time, the Bolt EUV still offers a satisfactory performance.**

Below are highlighted the main qualities of the Chevrolet Bolt EUV.

5. Autonomous Driving Capability

Even being heavier than the Bolt EV, the Chevrolet Bolt EUV had minimal loss of range compared to the hatch. The compact SUV can travel 456km on a single charge with its 66 kWh battery, potentially even more if you effectively use the regenerative braking system of the hatch.

The Chevrolet Bolt EUV is a direct variant of the Bolt EV, the electric vehicle from General Motors that has been one of the pioneers in the zero-emission vehicle market. However, despite being essentially the same vehicle, there are significant differences that make the product even superior to the original model.

Considering this, the website Canaltech highlighted the main positive and negative aspects of the Chevrolet Bolt EUV to assist you in deciding to purchase this excellent electric car.
