The operating power of each turbine is up to 6.2 MW, totaling 322 MW across the park, with steel towers 115 meters high and blades more than 80 meters long, forming a diameter of 170 meters. They are the largest turbines ever installed in the country in terms of power and size, with blades, towers, and nacelles manufactured in Brazil.

According to AES Tietê’s Director of New Business Development, Bernardo Sacic, “The investment in the Tucano Wind Complex is part of AES Tietê’s growth strategy.“ “We aim to diversify the group’s energy balance, always focusing on renewable energy projects that create value for our customers, shareholders, and communities.”

In addition to manufacturing the equipment, Siemens Gamesa will be responsible for transporting materials, storage, installation, commissioning, machine performance, insurance and contractual warranties, and schedule compliance, among other responsibilities.

The Engineering and Construction Director of AES Tietê stated: “Currently, we are in the process of hiring suppliers for electrical installation activities, including substations and transmission lines, and civil construction, such as foundations for the wind turbines and internal roads.”

The turbines will be installed in an area that includes the municipalities of Tucano, Araci, and Biritinga in Bahia, significantly contributing to the region’s economic and social development.

The commissioning of the first turbines will take place in December 2021. The total investment for this construction phase of the Tucano Wind Complex will be approximately R$ 1.3 billion.
