Those who wish to start a technical education or enter higher education in Pernambuco can now participate in the new selection process of the Federal Institute of Pernambuco (IFPE). The institution has opened free applications for 1,800 spots for the second semester of 2026. Registration must be done exclusively online by June 15.
The opportunities include on-campus technical and undergraduate courses, as well as an offer in the distance learning modality. The spots are distributed among various municipalities in Pernambuco and have different selection methods, depending on the modality chosen by the candidate.
How the Federal Institute selection works
The classification criteria vary according to the intended course. For those seeking a spot in the technical education integrated with High School, the selection will be based on school performance in Portuguese Language and Mathematics during Elementary School.

More than 200 free and fully online courses with certificates are open for registration for people from all over Brazil, in areas such as technology, programming, management, and languages, and can be secured without fees, without a selection process, and only with a CPF and email until the end of June.

Quota policy expands access to free technical course vacancies at the Federal Institute
IFPE informed that at least 60% of the vacancies for all courses and shifts are allocated to students from the public school system or community schools partnered with the public authority focused on rural education.
Within this percentage, there are specific reservations for different groups, including:
- Black and brown people;
- Indigenous peoples;
- Quilombolas;
- People with disabilities;
- Low-income students;
- People from rural areas in agricultural vocation courses.
The institution also provides affirmative actions aimed at candidates with disabilities registered through open competition.
The verification of the required conditions will occur later, during the verification stage linked to the enrollment period.
