With Adjusted Engine, Enhanced Traction, and Reinforced Structure, the New Ranger Super Duty Promises to Meet the Needs of Professionals Who Demand Extreme Strength and Resilience
Ford officially launched the new Ranger Super Duty in Australia, a model that pushes the limits of strength and versatility within the Ranger lineup. Developed with a focus on demanding professional applications, the pickup promises to set a benchmark in towing capacity, able to haul an impressive 4,500 kg, according to the manufacturer.
Despite the announcement, there is still no expected arrival date for the model in Brazil. Its absence in the Brazilian market involves not just business decisions, but also issues related to local legislation and recent difficulties faced by the manufacturer in its operations in the Americas.
Even so, there is optimism among enthusiasts, who believe in the potential of the Ranger Super Duty to carve out space both in urban areas and in more challenging terrains.

V6 Turbo Diesel Engine Adjusted for Extreme Service

Initially, it was speculated that Ford would use the engine from the Ranger Raptor in the Super Duty. However, the company chose to stick with the well-known 3.0 V6 turbo diesel, already present in the Brazilian version of the Ranger.
This engine delivers 250 horsepower, but has received a specific reprogramming to meet the stringent emission standards applied to heavy-duty vehicles in Australia.
The exact figures for horsepower and torque have not yet been disclosed. Nevertheless, the 10-speed automatic transmission has been retained. It ensures robustness and efficiency in gear shifts, maintaining the necessary performance in severe usage conditions.
Robust Design and Structure Designed to Face Any Challenge
The Ranger Super Duty impresses not only with its numbers, but also with its enhanced visual and structural package. The model features a raised suspension, wider track, and 33-inch tires, suitable for both dirt roads and industrial environments.
At the front, the new steel bumper, fixed directly to the chassis, stands out. It is designed to accommodate auxiliary lights and features a metal skid plate, protecting mechanical components in rugged terrain. The name “Super Duty” emblazoned on the hood completes the pickup’s imposing look.
Severe Tests Prove the Strength of the Super Duty
The development of the Ranger Super Duty followed a rigorous testing protocol. According to Jim Baumbick, vice president of product development at Ford, the model was subjected to extreme conditions inspired by mining operations.
“We created a new mud test, even more challenging. During the trials, the vehicle operated with about 600 kg of mud accumulated on its underside, without compromising performance,” Baumbick stated.
This level of demand demonstrates the brand’s commitment to delivering a vehicle that is not only robust in appearance but also reliable in practice, especially in situations where failure is not an option.
Ranger Super Duty: Practical Solutions for Heavy Work
In addition to brute strength, the Ranger Super Duty incorporates features aimed at work efficiency. One of the key highlights is the fuel tank with a capacity of 130 liters, ideal for long distances in remote areas, reducing the need for frequent refueling.
The model also comes equipped with electronically locking differentials on both axles. This technology improves traction on slippery or uneven terrain, enhancing safety during the transport of heavy loads.
Another important feature is the integrated scale system. With it, the driver can monitor, in real time, the distribution and weight of the load directly from the bed. This helps prevent overloads and improves stability during transport.
The entire setup is mounted on a reinforced chassis, specially designed to safely and reliably handle intense towing and heavy loads.
Global Launch Anticipated in 2026
Initially, the Ranger Super Duty will be available in Australia, New Zealand, and Thailand, with an expected arrival at dealerships in 2026. Ford has not yet confirmed whether the model will be sold in other markets, such as Brazil.
With this launch, the brand expands the options within the Ranger lineup and reaffirms its focus on practical solutions for professionals who rely on the vehicle as a working tool. The Ranger Super Duty arrives to meet those seeking strength, resilience, and technology in one package.
