On last Monday, (08/15), the Brazilian Association for the Development of Nuclear Activities (ABDAN) hosted representatives from the China National Nuclear Corporation (CNNC) at its headquarters in Rio de Janeiro to discuss the nuclear sector in Latin America and business opportunities in the market. Thus, the main future perspectives in the Brazilian nuclear segment and other neighboring countries were presented, aiming to outline a growth plan in Latin America for the coming years.

This week started quite busily at ABDAN’s headquarters in the state of Rio de Janeiro, as the association received representatives from the Chinese nuclear energy company CNNC. They now aim to expand their business portfolio in Brazil and Latin America and seek project and enterprise opportunities.
This was the central discussion during the meeting, the future of the nuclear sector on the American continent and the possibilities for expansion in the market of this segment over the next few years.

Thus, ABDAN’s president, Celso Cunha, welcomed the executives Dong Jian and Wei Gao from the Chinese company CNNC and presented the main issues regarding the future of the nuclear market in Brazil and Latin America.
Additionally, the meeting also focused on the advancements of the Brazilian market for Small Modular Reactors (SMR) and future prospects for business evolution in partnership with ABDAN, thus ensuring a more secure projection of the project’s future with the company.
Other Meetings Were Held by ABDAN with International Naval Sector Companies to Boost Investment Attraction to the National Market
ABDAN has been seeking to strengthen its relationships with international companies from various countries and, this year, is organizing a series of meetings with executives from major international nuclear sector companies.
Like the Chinese company CNNC, aiming to showcase market opportunities in Latin America and attract growth for the segment, primarily focusing on the potential for nuclear exploration in Brazil over the coming years.
Moreover, in addition to the meeting with the Chinese company, the association previously welcomed some executives from the American companies Westinghouse and Holtec, with the goal of discussing business opportunities in the Brazilian nuclear segment.
Other companies that have also participated in discussions about the future of the naval market in the national territory and neighboring countries include the Belgian Tractebel and the French EDF.
