Petrobras Cancelled This Friday, 23, The Environmental License Request To Install Equipment For Gas And Oil Flow From The Well Installed In The Municipality Of Assú
Petrobras annulled this Friday, August 23, the request for an environmental license to install equipment for the flow of gas and oil from the well installed in the municipality of Assú. Despite the Potiguar territory being part of the divestment plan for the state company’s oil exploration activities, onshore activities will have investments of 40 billion reais and will create 700 thousand jobs by 2030 in Brazil.
The administrative decision number 120596/2019 from the Institute for Sustainable Development and Environment of Rio Grande do Norte (Idema) determines the termination of activities of the surging line of well 7-ET-0921-RN, located in the production asset of Alto do Rodrigues.

According to data from the National Oil Agency (ANP), the state registered the lowest volume of barrels of oil produced in the first half of 2019 since 2000.
The production capacity of the Potiguar onshore fields was reduced by 63% over the period. This action reaffirms Petrobras’s divestment process from production in Rio Grande do Norte.
The Potiguar fields registered 7.428 million barrels of oil until last June, which represents a reduction of 4.3% compared to the same period in 2018, which recorded a total of 7.76 million units produced.
On the last day of August 9, the oil company announced that it signed a contract with SPE 3R Petroleum for the sale for 191.1 million dollars of all its stake in a group of 7 onshore and offshore production fields, the Macau Pole, in the Potiguar Basin, in Rio Grande do Norte.
The Macau Pole encompasses the fields of Aratum, Macau, Serra, Salina Cristal, Lagoa Aroeira, Porto Carão, and Sanhaçu, which together produce about 5.8 thousand barrels of oil equivalent per day.
Petrobras continues with its efforts to sell exploration areas. The fields in Rio Grande do Norte are also part of the company’s divestment plan, which will now focus on its core activity of oil and gas exploration and production in deep waters.
