Ships That Can Carry Up To 12 Thousand Containers
Initially, one of the largest ships docked at the Port Of Santos. The Kota Pusaka, flagged from Hong Kong and owned by the Asian carrier PIL, can carry up to 11,923 TEU (twenty-foot equivalent units). The vessel docked at Tecon Santos, a container terminal managed by Santos Brasil on the Left Bank of the maritime complex in Guarujá.
The ship is 330 meters long and 48.2 meters wide. The cargo ship came from Asia and docked at the terminal to unload 2,923 TEU. After the operation, one of the largest ships in the world will set sail for the port of Paranaguá (PR).

Four 24-meter suction sails that generate up to 7 times more lift than traditional sails have been installed on a Maersk oil tanker. The autonomous system can reduce consumption by up to 20% and is already recording savings of up to 5.4 tons of fuel per day at sea, with annual cuts potentially reaching thousands of tons on a single vessel.
Then, next Tuesday (3), the Kota Pusaka will return for loading cargo at Tecon. At the end of the operations, the cargo ship will set sail for Singapore.
First Time The Ship Kota Pusaka Docks At The Port Of Paranaguá
This is the first time the ship Kota Pusaka docks at the Port Of Paranaguá. The vessel is flagged from Hong Kong, measures 330 meters in length (LOA) with a width of 48.2 meters (beam), and is capable of carrying 11,923 container units (TEUs) as mentioned earlier.
According to Luiz Teixeira da Silva Júnior, the Operations Director of Ports of Paraná, ships with higher transportation capacity require infrastructure and operational efficiency, as well as a greater demand and cargo.
“It’s the gain in scale. By carrying more containers on a single ship, freight costs are reduced, which lowers expenses for users and, consequently, attracts more cargo to Paranaguá. The trend of larger ships coming in makes more exporters and importers seek the port to move their containers,” says the director.
