Petrobras: Leader in the Oil Sector

Petrobras stands out as the leading oil operator by planning a new stage of revitalization of mature fields, confirming its important position in the oil and gas sector. This move is part of the company’s strategy to optimize the yields of its facilities, with the latest update occurring in September, when it completed the basic project of the P-86, currently in the selection process for the next stage.

Two crucial projects were developed in conjunction with Petrobras’ engineering team, becoming part of a significant contract worth R$ 57 million, signed in 2023 with the oil operator. This contract covers the development of multidisciplinary basic engineering projects, highlighting the use of digital automation tools. Petrobras’ new assets are the focus of this technological advancement aimed at improving efficiency and innovation in the sector.

Advanced Technology at Petrobras

The application of BIM technology (Building Information Modeling) is critical at this phase, with each discipline designed in 3D, facilitating visualization and adjustments in the project. This investment in technology and engineering in the early stages of the project drastically reduces costs associated with later modifications, thus increasing the efficiency and effectiveness of Petrobras’ projects.

This focus on technology not only decreases CO2 emissions but also enables Petrobras to achieve more economical oil production levels, maintaining one of the lowest carbon intensities globally, according to Augusto Castro, General Manager of Capital Projects at Radix. This approach emphasizes the commitment of the oil and gas company to lead sustainable initiatives.

The P-86 will represent a milestone, being the first floating platform of the company to implement a combined cycle energy generation system. This innovation aims to substantially reduce greenhouse gas emissions, aligning with Petrobras’ Strategic Plan 2050, which guides its future actions toward more sustainable development.

In the contract with a long-term strategic partner, Petrobras will also deliver the owner engineering and detailed design for the development of the E-House for the FPSOs P-80 and P-83. This project reflects the company’s commitment to innovative and efficient solutions in the oil and gas sector.
