On the Coast of Paraná, a Bridge of Great Proportions Advances at an Accelerated Pace, with Hundreds of Workers Working Day and Night and Million-Dollar Public Investment Transforming the Link Between Matinhos and Guaratuba.
The Guaratuba Bridge, one of the largest infrastructure projects in Paraná, is rapidly advancing in its schedule and has reached 65% completion, according to the June 2025 report.
Located on the Paraná coast, the structure is transforming the link between the municipalities of Matinhos and Guaratuba and promises to solve historical bottlenecks in the region’s traffic.
Guaratuba Bridge: Intense Work Pace and Imposing Structure
Currently, more than 650 workers are active in daytime shifts and about 100 work at night, ensuring the accelerated pace of construction.

The construction site remains busy 24 hours a day, with machines and workers operating to enable the delivery of the bridge, considered strategic for the development of the coast.
The main structure, measuring over 1,200 meters in length, is part of the complex that will extend for 3.07 km along the PR-412 highway, including access on both sides of the bay.
The total investment has already surpassed R$ 400 million, reinforcing the Paraná government’s commitment to modernizing the road network.

Progress and Technical Stages Already Completed on the Bridge That Promises to Connect Cities
The most recent progress is concentrated on the stayed span — part of the project composed of towers and cables that support the bridge between the lanes.
The starting ducts at supports 4 and 5 have been completed, which are fundamental elements for the formation of the main towers.
According to information from the Paraná Department of Infrastructure and Logistics, the infrastructure and the mesostructure of these towers have already been completed, representing a significant advancement in the schedule.
In the bay bed, the work is approaching another important stage: of the 64 piles planned for the project, 54 have already been concreted.
The stayed span has 20 ready piles, while the precast section has already totaled 34.
In parallel, the manufacturing of precast girders is maintaining a steady pace, with 105 structures produced and 88 of them already installed in the bridge’s crossbeams.
The execution of the deck slabs is also progressing: half of the pieces in the precast section — 10 out of 20 planned — was completed by the end of June.

Changes in Accesses and Parallel Services in Matinhos and Guaratuba
The accesses to the bridge have undergone adjustments to accommodate the demands of the new layout.
In June, the work fronts concentrated on retaining, drainage, earthworks, and paving of the accesses from Matinhos and Guaratuba.
These stages are essential to ensure road safety and the durability of the structure, reducing negative impacts during the transition process between the cities.
Characteristics and Structure of the New Guaratuba Bridge
Designed to meet the growing regional demand, the new Guaratuba Bridge will offer four traffic lanes, in addition to safety lanes, sidewalks with bike paths, and guardrails.
According to data from the Department of Infrastructure and Logistics, the project prioritizes the safety of drivers, cyclists, and pedestrians, modernizing local mobility.
The progress of the works can be monitored in real-time on the official website of the Government of Paraná, reinforcing transparency regarding the progress of public investment.

Regional Impacts and Benefits of the Bridge That Promises to Connect Cities
The construction of the bridge represents a significant step for regional integration.
The current crossing, made by ferries, is often the subject of complaints due to queues and delays, especially during the high season.
The expectation is that the completion of the bridge will improve traffic flow, boost tourism, facilitate the movement of agricultural production, and promote economic development on the Paraná coast.
Environmental impact studies have accompanied all stages of the work to ensure respect for the Guaratuba bay, which hosts areas of environmental protection and rich biodiversity.
Technical Challenges and Job Creation on the Coast
The execution of the bridge requires high technical precision.
The stayed span, for example, demands advanced technology for the assembly of the towers and stays — cables that support the bridge deck.

Moreover, the climatic conditions and the particularities of the soil in the region require constant adjustments to the schedule, according to the engineering team of the project.
The work mobilizes engineers, technicians, equipment operators, and workers specialized in different areas, making the site one of the largest hubs for temporary job creation on the Paraná coast in 2025.
Public Investment and Oversight in Infrastructure Works
The investment of R$ 400 million is entirely public, with oversight from the Paraná State Court of Accounts and federal agencies, as required for major infrastructure projects.
Permanence oversight is one of the factors pointed out for the good progress and transparency of the project, which is expected to be completed in the second half of 2026, according to the most recent official data.
