With Support from Conab and IFRO, Family Farming in Rondônia Gains New Opportunities for Management, Training, and Access to Public Policies for Sustainable Productivity Strengthening
Family farming in Rondônia has received increased attention with the holding of the II Fair of Family and Agroecological Farming of the Federal Institute of Rondônia (IFRO), which takes place from November 5 to 7, 2025, at the Ji-Paraná Campus, according to a report published.
The event, open to the public from 8 AM to 6 PM, promotes actions that connect producers, cooperatives, and public policies, focusing on strengthening regional production chains and the sustainability of rural production.
Organized in partnership with the National Supply Company (Conab), the fair brings together initiatives aimed at improving management and valuing local products.
-
The government aims to reach 700 open markets for agriculture by the end of the year and has already opened 594 since 2023, with 29 products released in 9 countries in April.
-
Guava producers in Rio Grande do Sul are discarding tons of fruit because the buying companies have simply stopped accepting the production, even with one of the best harvests in recent years, while consumers are paying increasingly higher prices.
-
At the same time that a traditional farmer plants lettuce in the field and waits up to 90 days for the harvest, a single Japanese factory produces 30,000 heads of lettuce per day, without soil, without pesticides, and not dependent on the season, with automated harvesting that surprises the world.
-
After soybeans, producers in the northwestern region of São Paulo are betting on sorghum in areas of up to 900 hectares and see the crop as a more economical and climate-resistant solution to ensure income, even with challenges of rain, drought, and lack of storage facilities.
The Conab booth offers direct assistance to farmers, providing informational materials and registering in the National Register System of Rural Producers and Other Agents (SICAN).
Registration in the system is essential to ensure access to federal support programs and incentives for agricultural production in the state.
Technical Support and Programs for Strengthening Rural Production in Rondônia
During the fair, representatives from Conab, including the regional superintendent, Rosemberg Alves Pereira, the operations manager, Edilson Cândido de Lima Júnior, and the operations assistant, Francisco Ivani Narciso, highlighted the importance of institutional presence to broaden the reach of public policies aimed at rural areas.
On the first day of the event, the launch of the More Management Program, an initiative from the Ministry of Agrarian Development (MDA), took place, offering technical support to cooperatives, associations, and agribusinesses of family farming across the country, with local execution in Rondônia.
Conab’s presence at the space aims to reinforce technical assistance and guide producers about the Food Acquisition Program (PAA), which supports projects developed by cooperatives and associations.
In addition, visitors receive information about the Sales at Counter Program (ProVB), aimed at purchasing corn directly from Conab’s storage units by small producers, and about the Sociobio Plus Program, which guarantees economic subsidy to extractivism products and forest peoples.
These actions expand farmers’ access to support mechanisms and income diversification, strengthening family farming in Rondônia.
Sustainable Development and Integration of Traditional Communities
The fair also aims to encourage sustainable growth and strengthen local productive networks.
The integrated action between IFRO and Conab contributes to increasing the number of registered and informed farmers, as well as stimulating the improvement of projects submitted to the PAA and the expansion of corn sales through ProVB.
With the increase of subsidies granted by Sociobio Plus, it is expected to expand the reach of traditional and extractivist communities within public policies on supply and food security.
Family farming in Rondônia is one of the pillars of regional development, and events like this consolidate the institutions’ commitment to valuing the rural producer.
The initiative reinforces the importance of cooperative organization, continuous training, and access to information that can generate new marketing opportunities and efficient management of properties.
Institutional Partnerships and Strengthening of Regional Production
The II Fair of Family and Agroecological Farming at IFRO is part of the strategic planning of the Regional Superintendency of Conab in Rondônia, which seeks to enhance the integration between public policies and local communities.
The union of teaching, research, and extension boosts the practical application of programs that directly benefit the field, generating concrete results such as increased income and strengthening the rural economy.
Thus, the event reaffirms the importance of family farming in Rondônia as a vector of productive inclusion, innovation, and sustainability, reinforcing the role of IFRO and Conab in promoting regional development.
